Our Story
In the year 1998, Farah Bakhtiari, made a decision that has continued to shape the lives of many. A few months after the sudden death of her 24-year-old son, she found herself questioning what it meant to experience a life of tremendous pain and grief. In her mind, her only son whom she had loved and cherished the most in life was no longer a part of her journey. Hence, she began to alter her perspective and see the world, its events and their stories for what they truly are.
She looked around and saw the dark cloud of poverty, all the opportunities ruined by it and all the lives lost because of it. Having grown up in poverty herself, she knew what it all tasted like. Inevitably, she decided to do her part in this struggle. Thereby, in the year 1998, and with a vision to battle poverty and inequality of opportunities for growth and prosperity, Bakhtiari Foundation was founded.
With the support and generosity of thousands of donors, as well as the help and dedication of hundreds of volunteers, the Bakhtiari Foundation has made a significant impact on our community of underprivileged children and their families over the past few decades. Having seen the way our programs have transformed the lives of those in our community, we are now, more than ever, committed to expanding our reach to the wider global community. This has marked the first chapter of Bakhtiari Foundation Australia which hopes to raise funds to help our registered children across a number of programs.
