Every woman’s recovery is her own.

Some women come to us wanting to feel steadier and more confident in themselves. Others want to understand their emotions, grow their financial confidence, or take the next step towards work and new opportunities.

Wherever she is starting from, there is a place for her here. Our courses meet women at every stage of the journey, building confidence, wellbeing, independence and connection, alongside other women who understand.

This is our final call for Term 4, and the last chance to join us this year.

Each pair represents a woman or child whose life was taken by domestic and family violence. The shoes are laid one at a time, in silence, by people who work in this every day.

By midday, Martin Place is full of them.

Join us to honour and remember the women and children killed by domestic and family violence.

Our Vigil is supported by a performance from Minchin, musician, writer and actor. Main speaker Chawla, one of Australia's leading voices working to end men's violence against women and children.

These are not just statistics.

They are our mothers.
Our daughters.
Our sisters.
Our cousins.
Our friends.
OUR CHILDREN.

In over just 48 hours in September, three women and one child lost their lives to domestic and family violence.

And across Australia:
1 in 3 women have experienced physical violence since the age of 15.
1 in 5 women have experienced sexual violence since the age of 15.

Behind every statistic is a life. Women and children whose lives have been taken by violence. Women and children whose stories must not be forgotten.

On 25 November, we will gather in Martin Place for Unite Against Violence: No More Empty Shoes to honour and remember those whose lives have been taken and to stand together for a future where this is no longer accepted as inevitable.

How many more lives?
How many more empty shoes?
We cannot accept this as inevitable. We need change. We need action. We need an end to violence.

Stand with us. Stand against violence.

We've all heard the news stories. We've seen the stats. But these are not just stats. Behind every statistic is a woman. A mother. A daughter. A sister. A friend. A child.

Women and children whose lives have been taken by violence. Women and children whose stories must not be forgotten.

On 25 November, 51 frontline organisations will stand together in Martin Place for Unite Against Violence: No More Empty Shoes, to remember the women and children we have lost to domestic and family violence over the past 12 months, and to call for the changes needed to make things better for victim-survivors.

This is part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
