When your best mate just won’t take the hint… 😂🦘

Comet and Dexter are great little mates and absolutely love a good play fight — although apparently Comet gets to decide when playtime begins. 😂

First he’s got poor Dexter in a headlock, then the wrestling begins… but Dexter soon decides he’s had enough and would much rather get back to eating his grass. 🌱

Comet, however, isn’t finished. A little nip on the back as if to say, “Come on Dexter, play with me!” 😂

He really is a little rascal sometimes. ❤️ And Dexter, being Dexter, would just like to finish his grass in peace.

These two really are the best of friends — even if one of them is slightly more enthusiastic about playtime than the other. 🥰🦘

Just two sweet girls enjoying their favourite little treat. 🥰🦘

Viv, our Western Grey, and Jojo, our beautiful Red girl, certainly know the sound of the almond container. 😂❤️

A couple of almonds, two very happy girls, and those gorgeous little faces… sometimes the simplest moments are the sweetest. 🥰

🍐 PART TWO: Apparently the pears weren’t the best part… 😂🦘

After all the excitement of Jazzy and Kalan bringing out the pears and strawberries last night, Rudolph discovered something even better — the empty pear box. 😂

He grabbed it, wrestled with it and was having an absolute ball… until the box appeared to get the better of him and he took off.

As Jazzy quite rightly pointed out, “You lost to a box, Rudolph!” 🤣

Then Kalan handed it back to him for round two — and Rudolph was off again, bouncing around with his new prize and managing to send some of the other roos scattering in the process. 😂

Who needs expensive enrichment toys when apparently an empty cardboard box will do? ❤️🦘

🍓 A special treat for the roos tonight 🍐🦘

Tonight Jazzy and Kalan headed out with a very special delivery — pears and strawberries kindly bought and donated by Neetu Sharma for the kangaroos. ❤️

As you can see, they certainly didn’t go to waste! 😂 From carefully holding onto their pear, to strawberry-covered faces and everyone trying to find their favourite piece, there were some very happy roos tonight.

It was such a beautiful evening too, and a lovely chance for Jazzy and Kalan to spend some time amongst them while they enjoyed their treats.

A huge thank you to Neetu for thinking of our kangaroos and spoiling them. It really is appreciated — and judging by these faces, I think the roos agree! 🍓🍐🦘❤️

Leo has decided he’s the man of the mob. 😂🦘

There were some wild females just over the fence tonight, and Leo suddenly had a very important job to do — make himself look as big and impressive as possible!

Watch him stand tall, stretching himself right up on his tail, then paw at the ground and rub himself through the grass. This is all part of the fascinating behaviour male kangaroos can display when females are around. Dominant males use their size, posture and scent to advertise themselves and communicate with other kangaroos — essentially Leo’s way of saying, “Ladies… I’m over here!” 😂❤️

And while Leo is busy trying to look very grown-up and impressive, you might spot Comet and Dexter having their own little spar in the background. Apparently everyone had something to prove tonight. 😂

I absolutely love watching these natural behaviours emerge as our boys grow up. Even after all these years, there is always something fascinating to watch in a mob of kangaroos. 🦘❤️

Grandpa waking up for his favourite greens 🥹🦘❤️

A little eye rub first… and then it’s time to tuck into some freshly picked thistle. 🌿

At his age, we’re always looking for things Grandpa genuinely enjoys eating, and this is definitely one of his favourites. Once he gets started, there’s no stopping him. 😂❤️

It’s the simple moments like this — watching our beautiful old boy happily enjoying his dinner — that mean so much.

TJ was quite happy soaking up all of Jazzy’s love and attention. ❤️🦘

Kisses, cuddles and those little paws holding onto her — he was loving every second of it. But when Gemmells gets that little bit closer, you can almost see TJ’s expression change. 😂

Suddenly he’s making very sure Jazzy remembers exactly who she was cuddling first. “Excuse me… she’s mine!” 😂❤️

Meanwhile Gemmells has his own rather cheeky way of getting Jazzy’s attention, before finally earning a “Hello Gemmells” and some cuddles of his own. 🤦‍♀️😂

They really can be such affectionate little characters — and apparently sharing your favourite human isn’t always easy. ❤️🦘

A little bowl made especially for Grandpa ❤️🦘

Tonight Grandpa is enjoying some steamed sweet potato. 🍠❤️

I steam it until it’s lovely and soft for him, and judging by that tongue, I think Grandpa approves. 😂

At his incredible age, it’s these simple little things that make me happy — watching him hold his food in those beautiful old hands and still thoroughly enjoy something tasty. 🥰

He may be an old boy, but he certainly still knows what he likes. ❤️🦘

Apparently getting up for an almond is optional 😂🦘

Kalan headed out with the almonds and found Tiger stretched out on his back, soaking up the sunshine without a care in the world. ❤️

And when an almond was offered? Tiger didn’t even bother getting up. 😂 He simply ate it right there, still lounging on his back like the almond should be delivered directly to him.

Eventually he decided he might make the effort to stand up… but clearly there was no hurry. 😂

Some kangaroos chase their treats. Tiger prefers room service. 🦘🥰

🦘 Almond frenzy! 😂

Apparently one almond at a time just isn’t fast enough when you’ve got this many impatient kangaroos waiting their turn! 😂

Poor Kalan was completely surrounded, trying to keep everyone happy while reminding them that his fingers were not part of the menu. 🤣

And then there’s Wally at the end… why wait to be handed an almond when you can just try to climb straight into the bucket? 😂❤️

Just another day at Kangaroo Pouch. 🦘
