Brisbane Second Division Rugby League Revisited

Brisbane Second Division Rugby League Revisited The Brisbane Second Division Rugby League is, as far as we can ascertain, the largest single senior Rugby League competition in the world.

We run competitions for all senior Rugby League in Brisbane, other than the Queensland Intrust Super Cup and the FOGs Cup competitions. Our clubs stretch from North Stradbroke Island in the East to Dayboro in the North to Beenleigh in the South.

Vale Leny Hoeksema, a true Gater and great supporter of the Brisbane Second Division Rugby League era.

Our sincere condolences to his family and friends from all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

In what can only be described as a very sad day for our community ,we learnt today of the passing of a local legend, Mr Leny Hoeksema.

President of the Gaters Rugby League Club and heavily involved in Boxing Australia, Leny was well respected and much loved by those that knew him.

The heart and soul of the Gaters , Leny along with Gary Josey and Peter Anderson were the pioneers of the Sandgate (Gaters) Brighton Rugby League Club, the Gold and Blue's , Raka Taka, Zim Bam Baa , Gaters Guts !!!!

Many of our juniors went onto become Gaters over many decades. Playing in both the Blue and Gold and also in the tricolours Red, White and Blue.

The club would like to send our deepest condolences to the Hoeksema Family, Friends and the Gaters RLFC.

And thankyou for everything you done for Rugby League in the 4017 Leny.

You will be missed 💔

Condolences to Trevor’s family, football family and friends on his passing. He was a very well respected person at all levels of our sport.

It's with profound sorrow, the Easts Mt Gravatt JRLFC community mourns the loss of Trevor Cory, one of our most esteemed members.

Trevor’s involvement with our club began as a coach, where he led teams to notable success, capturing multiple Junior Premierships and Presidents Flags. However, his greatest legacy extends beyond championships, he was a mentor to countless players, many of whom went on to distinguished careers in the NRL and QLD Cup.

Off the field, Trevor dedicated many years to our club’s progress and success, serving on the committee in different positions including President for several terms. In 2010, his remarkable passion and service were formally honoured with Life Membership.

Trevor’s enduring influence is woven into the very fabric of our club. He will always be remembered for his relentless commitment, love for rugby league, and unwavering support for Easts Mt Gravatt JRLFC.

Our thoughts and sincerest condolences are with Trevor’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.
