Hope Road Project

Hope Road Project Zacharia Mawat Machiek, former South Sudanese refugee, is walking between Tweed Heads and Sydney to raise funds to build a school back in his town.

Zacharia Mawat Machiek is one of the “lost boys” of South Sudan who as a child was separated from his family, fled a civil war, and became a refugee. He now wants to help his community in South Sudan by building a primary school in his village. The Hope Road Project is a fund-raising campaign which aims to achieve this goal. The Hope Road Project is run by a volunteer organisation South Sudan Orphan Education (SSOE) made up of teachers and other professionals who have been motivated by Zacharia’s vision.
