🌿 EXPLORE OUR BACKYARD | CALLIGNEE HALL & GARDENS

Next up in our Explore Our Backyard series, we’re heading to Callignee Hall & Gardens.

📍 435 Old Callignee Road, Callignee

Set amongst the beautiful surrounds of Callignee, this community space includes the Callignee Hall, cricket oval, gardens and the Black Saturday Bushfire Memorial Walk.

🌳 Wander through the beautifully maintained gardens
🥪 Pack a picnic and enjoy the grounds
🔥 Make use of the undercover public BBQ
🏏 Enjoy the open space around the cricket oval
🚶 Take a walk along the Black Saturday Bushfire Memorial Walk, dedicated to remembering the devastating 2009 bushfires and their impact on the local community

It’s a beautiful spot to head out for a drive, have a wander and spend some time enjoying another part of our local area.

The Hall and Gardens are proudly maintained by local community groups, who put a lot of work into keeping the area looking fantastic.

♻️ As always, help us help them keep it that way. Take your rubbish home with you — and if you happen to spot a couple of extra pieces while you’re there, picking them up goes a long way towards looking after these great community spaces.

🌿 Explore Our Backyard — and enjoy what our local area has to offer.

Supporting Callignee Hall Through Grant Opportunities 🍽️💙

We’re pleased to feature the new commercial dishwasher at Callignee Hall, an excellent addition that will help support the many community activities and events held at the hall.

The dishwasher was made possible through the Latrobe City Council Seven Small Towns – Minor Capital Works Grant The Traralgon South & District Association (TSDA) was proud to provide the Callignee Hall Association with the opportunity to access this grant funding and support them through the process.

This project is a great example of how the TSDA works to connect local community groups with funding opportunities that can make a real difference to their facilities and the people who use them.

The new dishwasher will provide a practical benefit to the Callignee Hall Association, making catering and clean-up for community events, functions and activities much easier and more efficient.

🌱 The TSDA is committed to supporting our local community groups by helping them identify and access grant opportunities that can strengthen our towns and community facilities.

We’re delighted to see this funding opportunity turn into a valuable new asset for Callignee Hall and look forward to seeing it put to good use! Callignee Hall

🌟 Community Group Spotlight: Your Local CFA Brigades 🚒

Did you know that the Traralgon South and District community is protected by two volunteer Country Fire Authority (CFA) brigades?

🚒 Traralgon South Fire Brigade
🚒 Callignee Fire Brigade

Both brigades are 100% volunteer-run and rely on dedicated local community members who generously give their time to help protect our communities.

Whether you need advice on:
🔥 Bushfire safety
🏡 Preparing your property for the fire season
📋 Developing a Bushfire Survival Plan
🔥Burn off assistance

don’t hesitate to get in touch with your local brigade—they’re always happy to help.

Both brigades are also always looking for new volunteers. Whether you’d like to become an operational firefighter or support your local brigade in other ways, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved.

If you’ve ever thought about volunteering with the CFA, we’d encourage you to contact either the Traralgon South Fire Brigade or Callignee Fire Brigade to find out more. Every volunteer makes a difference to keeping our community safe.

🏏 Local Cricket – Players Wanted!

Looking to get involved in a local sporting club this summer?

Our local CATS Cricket Club is currently looking for new players for the upcoming 2026/27 season, with opportunities across junior and senior teams.

🏏 Junior & Senior players wanted

Support local. Get involved. Have a hit! 🏏

Junior and Senior players wanted!!

We are looking for some young and keen cricketers to join our wonderful club for the 26/27 season.

We were very thankful to have two junior sides, the Under 10’s and 12’s, represent Cats last season, along with a few Cats players who merged with the Imperials Under 14’s side.

This season we are striving to build upon these junior numbers, with the hope of filling 3 junior sides and for the first time in Cats history, an under 14’s girls side.

It also brings us great joy to announce that we will be fielding a senior women’s side for the second time in club history. However, we are still hunting down numbers to complete this side.

Junior cricket is played during the week, leaving the weekends free and breaks for the summer holidays. Keep an eye out for further information such as training and sign up dates which will be posted when the season approaches which commences around October.

The Traralgon South and Callignee community cannot wait for the 26/27 season and we are very excited to see the club expand and continue to grow in the coming years.

Please reach out if you or your child/ children are interested in playing at Cats! We welcome anyone from anywhere❤️💙

Feel free to email us at [email protected]

Go Cats!! 🐈

🎄 Help us bring Christmas to our Community 🎄

The Traralgon South & District Association is excited to announce that we have secured funding from Latrobe City Council to purchase Christmas decorations to help brighten our community during the festive season.

Now we’d love to hear from you!

We’re looking for ideas on what decorations we should purchase and where they could be displayed throughout our community. Whether it’s Christmas lights, festive sculptures, illuminated displays, wreaths, or something completely different, we’d love your suggestions.

As this funding is an investment for many Christmases to come, we’re looking for durable, reusable and semi-permanent decorations that can be safely installed each year by our volunteers.

If you have an idea, please leave a comment below or send us a message via Facebook Messenger. We can’t wait to hear your suggestions and work together to make our community shine this Christmas! 🎅✨

Have you noticed something different when entering Traralgon South? 🌿

Our township entrance signs have recently been refreshed, giving residents and visitors a fresh welcome to our community.

A big thank you to the committee members who organised the sign refresh, and to Latrobe City Council for providing the grant funding that made this project possible.

Do you have any ideas on how we can make Traralgon South, Callignee, Koornalla and the surrounding district even more beautiful? We’d love to hear them! Drop a comment below or send the page a message with your ideas. 💡
