๐ Happy National Youth Volunteering Week! ๐
This year's theme, Your Year to Lead, celebrates the incredible contribution, leadership and potential of young volunteers who are making a real difference in communities across Australia.
At Volunteering North Queensland, we're proud to celebrate our VNQ Event Roadies and the many student volunteers who are stepping up to support causes they're passionate aboutโfrom animal welfare and sporting clubs to environmental projects, aged and disability care, community services and health.
When community organisations asked, "Do young people want to volunteer?" we partnered with JCU: James Cook University, Australia to find out.
The answer was a resounding yes.
By working with JCU's Careers team, meeting students where they were, listening to what mattered to them and connecting them with meaningful opportunities, 52 students signed up to volunteer in just one week.
From that incredible response, our VNQ Event Roadies program was born.
You may have spotted our Roadies in their bright white vests at events including the Country Music Festival, Bartlett Rodeo and Ladies Race Day. But they're doing far more than lending a helping hand. They're developing leadership, building confidence, strengthening communication and teamwork skills, expanding their networks and gaining valuable experience that will support their future careers.
