A special shout-out to our youngest singers, aged just 9 to 13. We hope the experience of performing a masterpiece like Handel's Messiah at such a young age will stay with them for a lifetime, nurturing a love of choral singing that continues well into adulthood.

Bravo also to our young orchestral players, aged 13 to 17. Performing in an orchestra at this level is a remarkable achievement and reflects years of dedication, perseverance, and countless hours of practice. We are incredibly proud of each of them.

The future of music in North Queensland is in good hands! 🎶

We are also delighted that our project partners, the Great Barrier Reef Orchestra, are launching the Great Barrier Reef Youth Orchestra in Townsville. What a wonderful opportunity for the next generation of young musicians to learn, perform, and grow together.

There are some moments in music that stay with you long after the final note has faded. Our performance of Handel's Messiah on 11 July 2026 was one of those moments.

To stand together on stage and share this magnificent work with such a warm and appreciative audience was a deeply moving experience.

Our heartfelt thanks go to our incredible singers, orchestra members and soloists. We are in awe of the wealth of knowledge, musicianship and generosity that the Hedtfeld family brought to our project, with Julia Hedtfeld inspiring our singers as vocal coach during the Winter School and Volker Hedtfeld leading us with such artistry as conductor.
We are deeply grateful for the wonderful collaboration with Opera Queensland and the Great Barrier Reef Orchestra, and we cannot thank enough our dedicated volunteers, generous sponsors and donors, and everyone behind the scenes who gave so freely of their time, energy and expertise.
We are especially grateful to Arts Queensland for their support, which helped make this ambitious project possible.

Did you catch our interview on ABC North Queensland radio this morning? It was great to chat with Jessica Naunton about our Messiah Project.

Today is the day! Doors to our performance of Handel's Messiah open at 2:15pm at the Auditorium of St. Patrick's College, The Strand. Online bookings are closed now but there are a few tickets left to be sold at the door. Be quick to get them - you do not want to miss this concert!

A big shout-out to Stable in the City who will offer refreshments before the concert and during intervals.

Messiah Prelude and Interlude — done and dusted! ✨

Now we’re preparing for the grand finale: our Choral Winter School this July, under the direction of German conductor Volker Hedtfeld.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey so far. A special shout-out to our youngest singers (ages 9–13!) — and congratulations to every single choir member for the personal milestones achieved along the way.
