The upcoming Queensland Legal Walk on Tuesday 19 May will help raise funds to improve access to justice for disadvantaged and marginalized Queenslanders.
Kindly hosted by Townsville Community Law, the Townsville Walk is a relaxed return stroll along the Strand, commencing and concluding at Flinders Square, followed by coffee at the Pedlar Project. The Walk, now in its 19th year, forms part of Law Week and celebrates National Pro Bono Day. Last year, over 1,100 participants across seven locations helped raise more than $125,000 - let’s make this year even bigger. Funds raised support the work of LawRight and its pro bono partners, who provide vital legal assistance to people experiencing disadvantage, including those who are self-represented or unable to access help elsewhere.
We warmly encourage JCU Law School staff and students to get involved - consider registering a team, bringing your classmates or colleagues, and being part of a visible, collective effort to advance access to justice.
Event details:
Time: 6:45am for a 7:00am start
Location: Flinders Square (corner of Stokes & Flinders Streets)
Bring: Water and comfortable walking shoes
Individual and/or team registrations are now open via QLD Legal Walk Registration. If you are unable to attend but would still like to contribute, donations can be made via https://www.qldlegalwalk.org.au/donate
