These sessions are offered on a regular weekly basis and many members enjoy these sessions held at the clubrooms. Other workshops held throughout the year have been: Bone Carving, Lost Wax Casting, Gem tree making, basic gemology, wire wrapping, working with opal and creative workshops. The club would like to hear from any persons experienced in these fields or other related fields to run workshops to improve our level of members’ expertise. Annual Gem Show:-
Our annual Gem Show event is held on the third weekend in July, Saturday 9am to 4pm, and Sunday, 9am to 2 pm at the club premises. The weekend show hosts a large display of gems and minerals with
lapidary demonstrations, tailgaters and dealers. Come and visit or be a part of the annual show and at the same time enjoy our magnificent Townsville winter weather.

We are hosting an information session for members to learn about the role of an instructor in the club. There is no obligation to become an instructor by attending this session, but we want to ensure that members understand what this entails if they are interested. Without instructors, we are unable to keep our doors open for our members, so we are asking members to come forward and show interest in what’s involved.

This session will talk you through the process of becoming an Instructor and the support the Chief Instructors provide. The current Chief Instructors for Faceting, Silversmithing and Lapidary will be there to answer any questions.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please see Russell. If you could RSVP for this so we have an indication of numbers attending that would be great.

There can never be too many instructors, but we can't afford to have no instructors, so please consider helping if you can.

Did you check out our display cases at this year’s Gem & Mineral Show?

These displays showcased the incredible talent, craftsmanship and creativity of our club members. Each one reflected the passion and dedication they bring to their chosen craft, whether it be lapidary, faceting or silversmithing.

To help judge the displays, we invited the Triple t 103.9 team to announce our winners.

🥇 1st Place: David Propthero
🥈 2nd Place: Eschelle Walters
🥉 3rd Place: Alan Fabian

Congratulations to all of our winners!

Our winners thought their prize was simply the winning ribbon displayed on their showcase. However, thanks to the generosity of True Love For Coffee and Phelans Pies Townsville, both located just down the road from the club on Mooney Street, they’ve also won coffee and pies to celebrate their achievement. ☕️ 🥧

A huge thank you to our wonderful local businesses for helping us recognise the amazing talent within our club. Congratulations once again to everyone who entered!

This is the number of volunteers/members who assisted over three days of the Gem Show from set up to pack down with most volunteers giving their all, all day! All ages chipping in to help out for their club. We can't say thank you enough to each and every volunteer who contributed to the weekend's success. We know the camera didn't capture them all, but we know who you are and we want you to know that we
