Father’s Day Message from H.O.M.E

Today, on Father’s Day, we pause to honour and celebrate the dads, grandfathers, uncles, and father figures who guide, protect, and love us. We see the strength, the quiet wisdom, the hard work, and the deep care they bring to our lives and our communities.

But we also know this day can be heavy for many.

To those in our H.O.M.E family and the wider community who are grieving the recent loss of a father or father figure, our hearts are with you. We acknowledge the pain, the memories, and the space that can't be filled. You are not alone. Your grief is valid. And your love endures.

Whether your father is by your side or watching over you, today is a time for reflection, connection, and holding close those who make us feel at H.O.M.E.

💛 With love and strength from all of us at Helping Our Mob Everywhere.

It is with a great sense of loss, 'Helping Our Mob Everywhere' wish to advise the Far North Queensland community of the passing of our Director Alfred Smallwood Senior after a battle with an aggressive cancer. Alfred has been an unrelenting community advocate for Indigenous and Non-indigenous young men for over 35 years and has tirelessly maintained his fight for social justice for all despite having little support over that time to achieve his goals! Rest in Peace Uncle Alfred! The H.O.M.E Team will miss you dearly!

🚨 Sick of Crime? Give Us the Time. 🚨

At Helping Our Mob Everywhere (H.O.M.E), we’re not here to point fingers — we’re here to build solutions.

Right now, Queensland communities are feeling the weight of a youth crime crisis. Car theft. Fires. Fear. We see the damage, we hear the frustration, and we know that real change doesn’t come from more of the same.

Our billboard says it straight: “Give us the time”

Not just time on a clock — but time with these young people.
Time to teach, to listen, to rebuild.
Time to redirect anger into accountability, and hopelessness into purpose.

📍 The truth? These kids don’t need tougher punishments.
They need tough love, consistent mentorship, culturally grounded support, and a path back into community. That’s what H.O.M.E. delivers — every day, on the ground, across Far North Queensland.

We’re calling on the Department of Youth Justice and Victim Support, community leaders, and everyday Queenslanders:

Let’s stop managing symptoms. Let’s start building futures.

Together, we can flip the narrative — not with slogans, but with real time, real jobs, real healing.

The H.O.M.E Team Managing Director Irene Leard was delighted to be invited to speak at the 'Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Summit 2025 - Voices of Empowerment Strengthening Our Future' (AIATSIS-2025) in Darwin recently.

This session benefited other Indigenous businesses’ in providing confidence into two-way science place-based initiatives.

Through visibility of practices and governance of Indigenous science at CSIRO which is led by Community. It exemplified the way the project grew from relationship building, exploration, and research activities.

An excellent example of the benefits of Indigenous estate beyond CSIRO’s involvement.
