Drum roll please!...... 🥁

Rory H. Mather is a traditionally published picture book author with 20 titles released and more on the way. He's also a big believer in saying your dreams out loud and chasing them until they are your reality.

Oh, and he is quite partial to donuts. 🍩

Our theme for September is CURRENT. It was chosen by our Columbia chapter in Missouri, illustrated by Bethanie Irons, and is presented by Adobe.

What’s current? That new release at the top of the charts. Breaking news. The latest and greatest.

The crackling buzz of an electric current coursing through power lines to light up a neon sign.

The flow of a river always moving downstream. The constant push and pull of the ocean’s tide.

What new ideas and fresh executions are surging inside you? Sometimes you have to grab hold of your creativity like a live wire to spark something shockingly unexpected. While other times, you just need to go with the flow and see where it takes you.

Our Columbia chapter had this to say about the significance of this month’s theme:

"Current invites reflection on where we are now and where we’re headed. Socially, creatively, environmentally, and personally. It’s a theme that offers room for depth, urgency, movement, and connection.”

Introducing our August Speaker.... Vivina (Vi) Helen Momoka is the Queensland Regional Coordinator Community Connections for the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) Scheme, working under the Pacific Islands Council of Queensland (PICQ).

Based in Brisbane and originally from Fiji, Vi supports PALM Scheme workers, employers, and communities across South East Queensland, Western Queensland, and North-West Queensland. Her role focuses on helping workers settle into regional communities, connect with local services and support networks, build relationships through sporting, cultural, and community activities, and strengthen their overall wellbeing while living and working in Australia.

Through her work, Vi collaborates with employers, local councils, churches, sporting clubs, government agencies, health providers, and community organisations to create opportunities for PALM workers to feel welcomed, connected, and valued. She is passionate about community resilience, belonging, cultural inclusion, and ensuring workers and their families have access to the support they need to thrive.

Vi is also a newly published Australian author. Her memoir, Beating The Odds: A Memoir of Survival and Strength Through Breast Cancer, shares her personal journey of resilience, faith, hope, and determination through her experience with breast cancer. Her story reflects the same values that underpin her community work strength, connection, perseverance, and supporting others through life's challenges.

You can learn more about her book here:

We cannot wait to hear from Vi at our August event on 14th August 2026. Tickets go live this Sunday!

Our theme for August is NAKHLAH. It was chosen by our Khobar chapter in Saudi Arabia and illustrated by Rahaf Al-Badri.

Nakhlah نخلة (pronounced NAKH·lah) is an Arabic word meaning “palm.”

When a storm hits, palm trees bend with the wind while other trees break and fall.

So, in times of adversity, look to the palm for inspiration to sustain your creative practice. The spongy fibers of its trunk are not rigid; they flex instead of snapping. The palm also depends on its network of roots spread wide under the ground; just as we all need a network of people supporting us as we grow.

Our Khobar chapter had this to say about the significance of this month’s theme:

“This theme is a tribute to resilience, generosity, and rooted creativity — symbolized by one of the most iconic trees in Arab culture. The palm thrives in tough conditions — just like creativity under pressure. The date palm is deeply woven into Saudi identity, found on the national emblem and in everyday life — from food to folklore.”

Watch this video from our Khobar chapter for more on what NAKHLAH means to them.

Because flexibility and resilience gives you the strength to bring more beauty into the world.

Hello CM Friends,

We don't mean to add another email to your inbox but this is for good reason! We want to let you know that our Creative Mornings Toowoomba Instagram account is down! We are working on the tech issues in the background but we haven't gone anywhere! We are still well and truly alive and thriving.

At this stage we're seriously considering sending pigeons to all of our loyal CM attendees because, frankly, we miss you... and social media sucks! But alas, our Facebook is alive and thriving!

We can't wait to hang out in August for our monthly event on the 14th August. See you then (more info coming via email regarding theme & speaker! stay tuned!).

A huge shoutout and thank you to Jordy Howard for sharing this month 🫶🏼
