Special moment at Drayton and Toowoomba Cemetery today with interviews continuing for University of Southern Queensland - Australia year 2 Bachelor of Film and Screen Production student Addeline Brown and her 6 colleagues.

Headstone Healing Project co-founder Greg Johnson was today's "target" following on from Russ Dowrick and Lisa Herbert, with Shelley Burchett to come.

Cameras were clicking, sound checks were continuing and the "crew" operated like experienced professionals.

Stand by for a wonderful documentary, which is a compulsory part of the degree.

Thanks "Addie" for choosing Headstone Healing Project!

Many thanks for choosing our project Addeline.

REPAIRED!

If you've been on a tour with Cemetery Tours Toowoomba, there's a good chance you were introduced to the grave of 4-year-old James Wood Partridge, who died in 1895. It was one of around 150 graves that were vandalised in August 2024.

I'm thrilled to report that, thanks to generous donors, little James's memorial monument is again standing tall. The inscription "Jesus said suffer little children to come unto me" is no longer in the dirt.

The hand-carved cross, which was broken into about five pieces, couldn't be salvaged after it went missing from the cemetery months after the vandalism. Very frustrating. The cost of replacing the cross was in the thousands.

This headstone is one of 17 that have been repaired in the past week by JH Wagner & Sons. Yes, 17!

Cemetery Tours Toowoomba has been working for more than a year to coordinate the repairs as part of the Headstone Healing Project . It's wonderful to see so many standing tall again. The work continues.

Each one of these graves hold important insights into our past. Come and hear them.
🪦 The next Tales From the Tombstones are:
📆 Good Friday (April 3) and April 18

What a thrill it was for Headstone Healing Project's Jim O'Dea and Marie Green to catch up with Exhibition Gardener Moya Mohr at the annual presentation of cheques earlier this week.

Moya was a delight to work with over our 10 days at her beautiful garden for which we received $8,500 to restore even more vandalised headstones at Drayton and Toowoomba Cemetery.

Thank you, Moya, and thank you to our wonderful volunteers.
