Meet the friendly installers ready to electrify your home! 👋 These are just some of our professional tradies in action, doing installs as part of the Electrify 2515 Community Pilot.

The 19 installers are all qualified and accredited by Brighte, and most are local to the Illawarra. They bring a range of expertise: some specialize in whole-home electrification design, while others are experts in hot water or AC installation. 🛠

The best part? You can choose one installer for everything or mix and match their specializations to suit your needs and budget. Understanding your energy bills these days ain’t easy. But together we can make sense of it 💪 Dozens of Electrify 2515 participants turned out to Thirroul Community Centre to share tips and experiences on how to optimise their newly electric homes and get cheaper bills. Thanks the volunteers and all that joined. We’ll host more events like these if there’s interest. Who’s keen? -illawarra

“It was like a cosmic blow-torch,” Stephen recalls of the bushfire that destroyed his home. “I started thinking; wow, something’s shifted as far as the climate goes.” 🌏

Stephen is one of many Australians that have been affected by bushfire. He was determined to do something. He moved to Thirroul in the 2515 postcode and met a group of volunteers that wanted to create the world's first electric suburb and power it with solar.

He was one of the first participants in the Electrify 2515 Community Pilot - and while they might have different motivations - there are now hundreds joining him.

Thanks to Stepehn and for telling this story. We would love to tell more.

Local Thirroul renter Robin Sands wanted to reduce his carbon footprint and reduce his bills so he took matters into his own hands. He installed portable solar, hooked it up to portable batteries, cooks on portable induction hobs, and bought an EV.

It's a great story but not everyone is as tech savvy as him, which is why we're advocating for minimum standards for renters, such as replacing gas appliances with electric ones at their end of life.

If you want to better standards for renters, make a submission by Sunday 31 May 👉 https://www.energy.nsw.gov.au/nsw-plans-and-progress/regulation-and-policy/public-consultations/meers

Renters, we have a rare opportunity to demand better basic housing standards.

The NSW government is currently exploring minimum energy efficiency standards for rental properties, like insulation.

Should go further and ensure gas appliances are replace with efficient electric ones to reduce renter energy bills? And what about portable energy set-ups like "balcony solar" systems?

If you would like to have your say and contribute to a regional submission to the NSW Gov, come along to the Renting and Energy Efficiency Community Forum being held this Wednesday 20 May, 6pm at Port Kembla Community Centre.

Have you received a letter from Endeavour Energy?

Endeavour Energy is the network partner delivering the Electrify 2515 Community Pilot. They're involved because they need to learn how electric homes use energy and support planning for a reliable grid as more households make the switch.

Additional to homes that want to get off gas, we're now looking for homes that are already all-electric to take part in the pilot by installing a fully subsidised smart energy device to contribute your home's energy data to the research.

If that's you, apply by 31 July 2026 via electrify2515.org/apply or the link in bio.

If you want to know more, call the local pilot team on 4216 6032.

Imagine running your home for FREE—even the aircon, stove, and hot water. 🤯

"We run our house for free in the middle of summer... often making money from the grid on a really sunny day." - Tosca and Billy ☀️

Their projected savings? About $2000 a year on electricity, making the investment "a no-brainer."
