At our 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀, we celebrated organisations making a meaningful difference in the lives of people facing barriers to healthcare.

𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘄𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗘𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲, 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 project was recognised for its work in improving eating disorder care across our region. Through enhanced clinician education, stronger referral pathways and improved access to appropriate services, the project is helping ensure people receive timely, safe and coordinated support.

Thank you to everyone involved in delivering this important initiative and advancing health equity in our communities.

🏆 We were proud to celebrate our 2026 Health Equity Awards on 22 August, recognising the outstanding primary healthcare providers across our region who are driving positive change and building a healthier, more equitable healthcare system.

This year, six organisations were honoured for their innovative approaches to improving health equity, from expanding access to mental health services and chronic disease care, to supporting families, people experiencing homelessness, and delivering culturally responsive healthcare.

One of this year's recipients, The ACT Centre's Aboriginal Mental Health Treatment Program, is helping remove barriers to mental health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through culturally safe, flexible and accessible support. By focusing on cultural responsiveness and person-centred care, the program is improving mental health outcomes and strengthening trust in healthcare services.

💜 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗜𝘁 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲, 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿'𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲: 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲.

From speaking up for inclusion to creating welcoming workplaces and communities, courage comes in many forms. This day recognises the strength and resilience of LGBTQIA+ young people and the allies who help build environments where everyone feels safe, respected, and celebrated.

Earlier this week, Adelaide PHN staff had the opportunity to hear from two guest speakers from Thorne Harbour Health, who shared insights into the important work they do supporting young LGBTQIA+ people in Adelaide. They also spoke about what Wear It Purple Day means to them and why visibility, acceptance, and inclusion continue to matter.

As we mark this important day, let’s keep the conversation going and commit to meaningful action that fosters inclusion and belonging, not just today, but every day.

We were proud to recognise Pasadena Medical at the 2026 Health Equity Awards for their project, Improving Chronic Condition Management and Health Equity through Community Engagement.

Supported through Adelaide PHN's Flourish Primary Care Innovation Grant, this innovative initiative is improving access to chronic disease management for culturally diverse communities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and people experiencing socioeconomic disadvantage.

Through tailored care planning and meaningful community engagement, the project is empowering patients to better understand and manage their health while increasing access to essential healthcare services.

Recognised at our Health Equity Awards on 22 August, Mission Australia's Integrated Family Case Work Model is addressing a critical gap in alcohol and other drug services by supporting not only individuals experiencing substance use challenges, but also their families and support networks.

This innovative, family-inclusive approach is improving engagement, strengthening family wellbeing, and creating better outcomes for clients and their loved ones.

The 2026 Health Equity Awards celebrated six outstanding organisations whose work is helping build a healthier and more equitable healthcare system across our region.

✨ Celebrating those making a real difference in health equity.

On Saturday night, we proudly honoured the recipients of the 2026 Health Equity Awards at the Hotel Grand Chancellor Adelaide. The evening recognised six outstanding organisations whose innovative work is improving access to primary healthcare and helping build a healthier, more equitable future for our communities.

One of this year's award recipients, Skylight Mental Health, was recognised for its Lived Experience Telephone Support Service (LETSS). Operating every evening (5pm-11:30pm), LETSS provides free, after-hours mental health support delivered by people with lived experience of mental health challenges, helping thousands of people each year access safe, anonymous and non-judgemental support when they need it most.

From strengthening mental health services and chronic disease care to supporting families, improving eating disorder pathways, reaching people experiencing homelessness, and delivering culturally responsive care, each winner is creating meaningful change where it matters most.

Interested in advancing end-of-life care research and making a real impact on healthcare practice?

Two PhD scholarships are now open:

🔹 End-of-Life Essentials for Acute Hospitals: https://www.flinders.edu.au/scholarships/dvcr_strategic_phd_scholarship_end_of_life_essentials_for_acute_hospitals
Investigating the impact of end-of-life care education on clinical practice in acute hospital settings.

🔹 End-of-Life Essentials General Practice: https://www.flinders.edu.au/scholarships/dvcr_strategic_phd_scholarship_end_of_life_essential_general_practice
Contributing to a national initiative developing an accredited continuing medical education program for Australian general practice.

Both scholarships include:
✅ Tax-free stipend of $36,061 per annum (2026 rate)
✅ 3.5 years of funding
✅ Research Training Program Fee Offset Scholarship
✅ 60-day industry internship with a research end-user organisation
✅ Opportunities to contribute to nationally significant research influencing policy, education and clinical practice
