This stunning piece "Taniwha" was designed and stitched in various surface stitches by guild member Margaret. The taniwha is from Maori mythology, and is a powerful supernatural creature that can be a protective guardian or a malevolent monster. Amazing work!

Yvette Stanton for@her honour Get • I am thrilled and honoured to announce that I received have a Medal of the Order of Australia (General Division) honour in the Australian honours system, awarded by the Australian government to recognise citizens for outstanding achievement and meritorious service. The citation was “for service to embroidery”.

This sort of thing doesn’t happen in a vacuum, so I have a long list of thank yous on my Substack.
