What is Mothing and National Moth Week?

NATIONAL MOTH WEEK is an annual, global event that invites people of all ages and backgrounds to participate in the mothing hobby; by sharing photos of moths they find for citizen science.

MOTHING is the practice of attracting, observing, photographing, identifying, and documenting moths for enjoyment or scientific study
These contributions help researchers study moth diversity, distribution, and ecology worldwide!

It's Pollinator Week and we have partnered up with the South Texas Ecotourism Center to offer free seeds, stickers, bookmarks and assorted native plant resources. Stop by STEC and take advantage of several species of locally harvested seeds. These free seed packets are offered through generous donations from Texas Master Naturalists, The Native Plant Project (NPP) and volunteers with the Rio Grande Valley Pollinator Project.
Be sure to set aside time to stroll the gardens that are having a blooming-good pollinator week after the recent rains! The habitats are not only in full bloom but are also full of pollinators, including Monarch and Queen butterflies as well as several of their larvae (Hint: look for the frass on the native Zizote Milkweed )
