A bag of essentials can make a world of difference 🩷

Tennant Creek Women’s Refuge has shared how your It's in the Bag donations are supporting women and girls in their community, including those experiencing homelessness, domestic and family violence, and financial hardship.

When the cost of living means essentials like food and accommodation must come first, personal care items can become unaffordable. These bags provide more than practical support - they provide “a sense of independence, dignity and the opportunity to feel like themselves again” during an incredibly difficult time.

Through a local partnership with the Stars Foundation, Tennant Creek Women’s Refuge also shared Teen Bags with teenage girls and young women, helping support their confidence, education and future opportunities.

Thank you to Tennant Creek Women’s Refuge, the Stars Foundation and YOU, who help make these donations possible. Together, we can ensure women and girls feel supported, valued and treated with dignity.

If you'd like to get involved in It's in the Bag, fill a bag with essential items and drop it at your local Bunnings between November 6-22.

Alternatively, you can donate online on our website, and we will pack and deliver a bag on your behalf! 🖥️

Community Connections 🤍

A big shout-out to these beautiful ladies from Alpurrurulam community who travelled to Tennant Creek to take part in DFSV training. 💚

While they were here, they popped into Tennant Creek Women’s Refuge to connect with our team, learn more about our space and understand firsthand what support is available for victim-survivors.

Building these relationships is so important. When someone in their community needs support, they’ll know where to bring them, who they can connect with and that they have a safe place to turn to. 🤝🏾

We’re looking forward to continuing to build strong networking, partnerships and support across communities throughout the Barkly. 🌿

TCWR was also grateful to share some donated items with these amazing women to take back to their community and distribute to those who may need a little extra support during times of crisis. ❤️

Four women. Four lives taken in just one week.

This is not acceptable. Violence against women and girls is never okay.

Every woman and girl has the right to live free from fear and violence. Enough is enough. Violence against women and girls is preventable—but only if we all take responsibility to challenge it, call it out and act.

Together, we can end violence against women and girls.

Stand Up. Speak Up. Love Should Not Hurt. 💜
