💬 Have your say on Kingborough’s Disaster Resilience Strategy

Kingborough Council is developing its first Disaster Resilience Strategy to help our community and Council better prepare for, respond to and recover from future disasters.

Natural hazards like bushfires, storms and floods can happen with little warning. This Strategy will set clear goals and priorities to guide Council’s actions and focus on where we can make the biggest difference in building a resilient Kingborough.

💬 Your input matters
People who live, work, study, run a business or regularly visit Kingborough are encouraged to share their views. Local communities know best the risks they face and what support is needed before, during and after emergencies. Your feedback will help ensure the Strategy reflects real community needs and priorities.

📝 Community survey
Council is inviting feedback through a short survey (around 10 minutes to complete).
👉 Complete the survey here: www.surveymonkey.com/r/TRK3B8G
📅 Open until 27 April 2026

📍 Prefer a paper copy?
Hard copies are available from the Civic Centre, 15 Channel Highway, Kingston.
📞 Need assistance? Call 6211 8200.

🤝 Further engagement
Council will also work directly with community groups and organisations, including a dedicated focus group to gather insights, experiences and ideas from key stakeholders.

Thank you for helping shape a safer, more resilient Kingborough.

Great little community gathering to mark the final transfer of this
important 8952m2 patch of Tasmanian blue gum forest to Kingborough Council for inclusion into Taroona Park. Good outcome for local biodiversity conservation particularly the critically endangered Swift Parrot which annually flies through Taroona Park to feed on the blue gum blossoms.

Thanks to the University of Tasmania for responding to community concerns and gifting the land.

Thank you to everyone who attended the screening of White Rock last night. It was an opportunity to understand more about the impact of the long spined sea urchin on Tasmania’s kelp forests and to try sea urchin sushi ( it might look odd but it was very tasty)
Remember that the Great Southern Reef Foundation needs you to complete the survey to help them pressure politicians. ( QR code in third photo)
Thank you to David Allen who donated the urchin and participated in the Q and A, Dr John Keane who ran the film and also participated in the Q and A, Kim Shore who facilitated the discussion and Charlie Jones for supporting our use of the Bowls Club.
