Interesting how things have changed over time. Most people would be used to connecting hoses directly to the valves on the rear of modern fire appliances.
The Bedford has the valves tucked up under the rear tray with linked levers operated from the passenger side.

Just like newer equipment, it pays to check how thing work as it could be very different to what you're expecting.😉🤔

It's been a while since we've had a full pic of the Studebaker.
Rewiring is continuing. For a vehicle with no technology like new cars, there is still quite a bit of cabling between lights top & bottom, front & back & switches, junctions, power to the pump etc.

The very delicate job of refitting the window glass has also started. Not something that you can give a bit of a whack to give it some persuasion to go into place.🫣

Once the motor has had some more run time to ensure nothing is leaking (apart from the factory fitted ones) the guards, head lights & bonnet can be put back on, then there is all the sign writing to be done. Now who has a steady hand?🤣

Mostly Bedford activities today. Some items showing their age have been removed & prepped for painting.
All the brake replacement parts have been fitted & the system bled, with a good solid feeling peddle. Now that it's running we are confident it will stop too.😁
Like the rest of our fleet, it now has working 'fire truck' lights, so does that mean it's ready for action??????????🚒🚨

It's not just big red trucks we work on.
Some may not know that we also have this Dean tank trailer that was fully stripped back & rebuilt (pump included) by the group.
This was completed not long after the Studebaker arrived mid 2023.
All we need now is an ex RFS Land Rover for towing duties & we'll have the full set! 😁
