Fascinating new DNA evidence proves Australia's iconic dingoes are holding strong. By comparing them to 2,700-year-old ancient fossils, scientists found that wild populations are an average of 88% pure dingo.

The study also uncovered that they fall into eight unique genetic groups across Australia. From the pure packs on K'gari to the outback, these findings highlight the need for localized conservation plans tailored to specific areas. This research significantly reshapes the narrative around dingo conservation.

Why does the Dingo 2030 Network exist?

Our founder, Rob Pallin, shares the story behind our mission to democratise conservation data. We believe it’s time to shift the conversation, from treating dingoes as a pest, to recognising and protecting them as a vital native species.
It’s about transparency, collaboration, and building a better future for our ecosystems through open science.
