The HOPE Program wishes all dads, granddads and male carers a Happy Father's Day for Sunday!🧡

We celebrate your dedication to helping your little ones to thrive, and recognise the challenges that many young dads face when raising a family. We also acknowledge and hold space for the difficulty that the celebration may bring for some.

Practice Manager for HOPE, Jade Brisenden, talks about what celebrating fathers means to him,

"Over the past ten years, my children have taken me on the most incredible journey. They have been my greatest teachers, showing me what unconditional love and connection truly mean. They’ve taught me to slow down, notice the little things, and take the time to watch, wait and wonder about who they are and how they experience the world.

Through them, I’ve learned not only how to love Father’s Day, but what it truly means to be all things Dad.”

We chatted with Senior Practitioner, Kristen Eddy, on the importance of celebrating, recognising and empowering young people, no matter what age they are. All young people have rights to have their best interests prioritised, develop to their fullest potential and have their views heard and taken seriously.

"I'm reminded of the importance of creating spaces where children and young people feel safe, heard and supported to be themselves. When families are empowered and connected with the right support, children and young people are better able to build confidence, develop resilience and pursue the goals that matter most to them.

One of the most rewarding parts of my role at HOPE is seeing the positive impact that is possible when we walk alongside families. Supporting families means supporting children and young people too, and it's a privilege to see them grow in confidence, discover their strengths, and thrive.

When we invest in children and young people, we strengthen families, communities, and the future we all share. Every child and young person deserves to feel valued, supported and empowered to reach their potential."

Safe and stable housing is every child’s right

Currently, 100% of families in the HOPE Program are experiencing housing instability. 🏠💔

Young parents are showing determination and resourcefulness as they care for their babies and children, while navigating an increasingly difficult housing system. No family should have to face this uncertainty alone.

HOPE works alongside families, building on their strengths and connecting them with safe, stable housing pathways. This supports every child’s right to an adequate standard of living and the conditions they need to grow, develop and thrive, as recognised in Articles 3, 6 and 27 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

When families, services and housing systems work together, young parents gain greater stability, choice and opportunity, and babies and children have a safer place to call home.

In June we celebrate , reinforcing the importance of supporting the voices of the youngest in our community – to mentally thrive, and listen and act on their needs.

Our newest baby and children's voice activity, conducted by the HOPE team, is called the 'Listening to Your Baby' activity. A simple yet powerful activity that helps both parents and practitioners working with families to slow down and notice cries, movements, gaze, facial expressions, body language and connection-seeking behaviour, letting us know what they need, feel and how they experience the world.

The 'Listening to Your Baby' activity is intentionally designed as a rights-based, relational and reflective activity, reinforcing the importance of supporting the voices of the youngest in our community. 💜🙌🏻

Today, we were proud to join Harris Farm Markets as they celebrated their first Greater Goodness Day — a company-wide initiative bringing to life their purpose: For the Greater Goodness.

For the past two years, Harris Farm Markets has been a valued supporter of the HOPE Program, contributing more than $40,000 through customer donations and community initiatives such as GoGenerosity and Neighbourhood Goodness. These contributions help us walk alongside young parents and their children, providing the support they need to thrive.

Our Director of Stakeholder Engagement, Tina Schembri, joined the team at the Maroubra store to share an update on the impact of the HOPE Program and present a thank you plaque in recognition of their ongoing support.

Beyond their commitment to local communities, Harris Farm Markets continues to champion sustainability, support Australian farmers, and reduce food waste through initiatives such as Imperfect Picks.

We are proud to partner with Harris Farm Markets and to be part of their Greater Goodness Day, celebrating the positive impact that collective action can have on local communities and families.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for our annual HOPE International Women’s Day Breakfast yesterday. It was a wonderful morning of thoughtful conversation, connection and shared commitment to creating safer, more hopeful futures for women and families by balancing the scales.

We are especially grateful to Commonwealth Bank for their generous support in hosting the event, and to our incredible panel for sharing their insights and experiences. Thank you to Simone Constant, Katrina Barry, Angela MacMillan, and Natalie Micarone for such an engaging and inspiring discussion.
