Aunty Jude is back to lend a hand to those absolute legends at Shopfront Arts Co-op.
Or is it Aunty Prude? Her name is up for grabs.
Shopfront has been one of our most vital and generous supporters. And this year they are celebrating their 50th year. They are holding a 50 hour 'Act-a-thon' so they can raise some $$$ and keep up their excellent work for another 50...at least.
And Aunty Jude will be making a shoulder dancing appearance to help. Here's an inspiring story about Shopfront from Shopfront, and your chance to help support this incredible youth organisation:
Not sure if you know this - but 48 years ago, the landlord of Shopfront was selling the building. As one of the last remaining arts cooperatives in the country - we run on a one voice, one vote model - meaning an 8 year old has equal voting rights the CEO. 😮
The Young People wanted to buy the building - they asked for it to be put to a vote and the Young People won!!! The Board of Directors resigned that night, as they thought the Young People were idiots for wanting to buy the building - but boy did they show them!
They held a 50-hour act-a-thon and received a small grant from Create NSW and successfully bought Shopfront!
This year, our 50th Year, we want to acknowledge those Young People who got it right in the beginning, we want to celebrate the amazing Young People we work with now and we want to set Shopfront up for another thriving 50 years!
💥 💥 Now Shopfront is staging another 50-hour act-a-thon!! An act-a-thon to raise a minimum of $50,000 in 50 hours! 💥 💥
The act-a-thon will take place at Shopfront, open to audiences for the 50-hours and live streamed internationally!!
