NSW National Parks is running a survey on proposed changes. Among the dramatic and concerning proposals is a major expansion of national parks that would swallow a significant amount of NSW State forest.

This will be a disaster for public land hunting.

We’ve already seen it with the Great Koala National Park. The NSW Government is reserving 176,000 hectares of State forest on the Mid North Coast, across 43 State forests in the assessment area, including Clouds Creek, Wedding Bells, Wild Cattle Creek, Chaelundi, Pine Creek and Orara East and West. A timber harvesting moratorium has been in place since 8 September 2025. Once that land is gazetted as national park, public land hunting access goes with it. That is the largest single hit to public land hunting in NSW since it commenced in 2006.

The proposed Great Southern Forest National Park would go further. The National Parks Association plan would lock up about 365,000 hectares across 55 State forests and 24 flora reserves, from the Illawarra to the Victorian border, and stitch them into existing parks to create a reserve of almost 1.2 million hectares. That is another 55 State forests facing closure to hunting, timber supply and everyday public access, including forests such as Mogo, Tallaganda, North Brooman and Coolangubra.

These reclassifications are the biggest attack on public land hunting in NSW since it started.

It’s imperative that everyone gets involved and has their say. This is how the government measures support for the decision. The draft National Parks Establishment Plan is on exhibition until 11:59pm on Monday 12 October 2026.

The Australian Recreation Union is proud to be working alongside community groups across the state to see the recent fi***rm laws in New South Wales repealed and replaced with laws that actually work.

The ARU is working behind the scenes with many community groups to have these laws repealed.

We want to extend a special thank you to the Australian Jewish Association for their continued support of the fi***rms community. Their commitment to integrity, and to fi***rm laws grounded in evidence rather than politics, means a great deal to law-abiding shooters, farmers, collectors and sporting clubs right across NSW.

Good policy should keep the community safe without punishing the people who already do the right thing. We're grateful to stand with partners who share that view.

We want to congratulate Jeff Bacon, on being announced as number two candidate for the Legislative Council in New South Wales for the 2027 election.

Jeff is an intelligent man with many years in the fi***rms industry. He is very personable and the character anyone can get on with easily.

It is very reassuring to see that New South Wales One Nation Party, continue to state that they will fully repeal the December 2025 laws in New South Wales.

Having trouble with hunting access on private land in Australia?

It's understandable. Farmers need to trust the people they let onto their property, especially around livestock, infrastructure and farming equipment.

That's why the Australian Recreation Union will shortly be launching a completely FREE new internal training program for our members. The course covers both theory and practical components in volunteer pest control.

Members who successfully complete it will receive an internal Certificate of Completion in Volunteer Pest Control. You can show it to landholders as proof that you've been trained and that you take their property, animals and livelihood seriously.

For farmers, it gives greater reassurance about who they're letting onto their land. For you, it could mean more opportunities for hunting and pest control management.

With her popularity soaring, the community in Australia divided more than ever and the extreme left typically angry, hateful and violent, are we nearing a time in our existence when political assasination is a real risk?

Should the federal government be more supportive and protective of it’s senators and ministers? Does Pauline need personal protection? Does democracy actually still exist in Australia?

We finally have a chance to get our country back and the risk of that being undermined is quickly becoming a real threat.
