Members of Samaritans Disaster Recovery team took part in a training day at Cessnock on Saturday.

The educational session increased our volunteers' skills in readiness for the next bushfire, flood, and other emergencies.

Our Homeless Youth Assistance Program (HYAP) team went west to participate in the Tamworth Homeless Connect Day.

Hundreds of people lined up at the door, with more than 100 services available

Stalls provided information and giveaways, including free haircuts and birth certificate registrations.

The HYAP team gave out backpacks with blankets, beanies, and socks for the young people aged between 12-15.

It was a rewarding experience for the team.

We had a great time at the Hunter Homeless Connect Day today.

A number of representatives shared how our vital services support people across the region.

The Homeless Youth Assistance Program (HYAP), Recovery Point, Financial Counselling, Child and Parenting Support (CAPS), Reconnect, and Specialist Homelessness Service (SHS) were all represented at the event.

We look forward to another great day next year.

The Taree and Forster Homelessness Connect Day was a huge success due to the planning by local services and the generous donations from local businesses.

Our Great Lakes Homelessness Support Service attended the event this month to offer blankets, clothing, and personal care items. This event was considered the best so far.

Stevie tried to mimic the noise of the jets as they took off.

He was enjoying a fun-filled day at Fighterworld in Williamtown alongside fellow participants Steven and lan, as well as two Samaritans support staff.

They all had a great time exploring the museum's old fighter planes and memorabilia.

The trip to Fighterworld was part of Samaritans Supported Independent Living (SIL) program, which allows people with a disability to gain independence within a welcoming environment while receiving compassionate support.

Welcome to the 'Wolf Pack'

A new group has been formed through our NDIS Individual Supports.

It encourages a safe space for likeminded men to build new connections and talk about their wellbeing and mental health

- all while doing something they enjoy together.
The Newcastle group meets every Tuesday evening, with members putting together a monthly calendar based off their interests.

Activities have included going to the pub for dinner, playing pool, a barbecue by the lake, a games night at a member's house, catching the ferry across to Stockton and, of course, ending the night with an ice-cream treat.

The group, which has been named the 'Wolf Pack, is having a great time. Here is some feedback from their adventures so far:
Darrin - "It's fun to have the guys over, they're good guys." Paul - "I really enjoy it, it's good company."
Michael - "I'm enjoying it very much, it's nice to get out of the house for a couple of hours and catch up with the guys." Wayne - "I enjoy the men's club, it's very entertaining. I like the people that l've met there. The guys that I go to the men's group with are enjoyable to be around."

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.
Lest we forget.

James is a passionate NRL supporter.

He has set himself a goal this year to watch Canterbury Bulldogs games at their home grounds in Sydney.

Being the goal achiever that he is, James has already attended two games, with both ending in big wins for his beloved Bulldogs.

Are you a Bulldogs fan? Fellow supporters are welcome to join in the fun at future games with James.

This is part of our NDIS Disability Services Newcastle
Individuals program.
