The Sydney Development Circle (SDC) is a networking and knowledge sharing platform open to anyone interested in international aid and community development work at the local, regional and global levels. SDC represents people of all ages, backgrounds and experience, across diverse development sectors. We strive to offer a programme of innovative events to assist our development community to broaden

their knowledge and expand their network of contacts. Our core activities include:

Seminars and social events
Presenting guest speakers and visiting scholars discussing development issues, cutting edge research and projects
Online networking and information sharing on the SDC groupsite. A volunteer steering committee coordinates events, and members are invited to recommend speakers and topics. The Sydney Development Circle aims to provide a forum for sharing ideas and resources as well as discussing topical issues with others. Meetings also give members and guests the opportunity to share information about the organisation they work for and their areas of experience, interest and passion in the field of development both in and out of Australia. See http://developmentcircle.org/locations/sydney/ for more details. Share your interests in the field of development, and receive event notices and share development sector resources and other topical events with peers. Hooray! Mpox vaccines have finally arrived in Lotumbe, Equateur Province, Democratic Republic of Congo! Frontline healthcare workers like Dr Moise Lofale, chief of staff, received their vax on October 21. The newly arrived vaccines are known to be effective against the older clade 2 variant, but it's not yet clear how well they will work against the newer, more lethal clade 1 strain. Congo health officials have confirmed more than 22,000 mpox cases in the country and more than 716 deaths from the disease this year. Thanks again to all who have helped us get protective equipment and meds to Lotumbe.

Just happened to come across this fascinating film on SBS TV last night - it's also available on SBS Demand. OKA! is based on the 25 years that an American musicologist lived with central
African Pygmies in the forest. The many ways that the Pygmy community makes music is riveting.
