As Navy celebrates its 125th Birthday, events such as the Airwater Cup highlight the strong camaraderie, tradition and competitive spirit that continue to define Navy sport and the people who proudly serve.
Over 70 sailors from the Navy Golf Association NSW and NGA South went head‑to‑head in the annual Airwater Cup golf event at Shell Links, competing in a fiercely fought two‑person ambrose competition over 18 holes. The team from the South were hoping to secure a three‑peat; however, NGA NSW proved too strong on the day, reclaiming the trophy with a decisive 499 to 479 victory.
The best score of the day was recorded by Al Hart and Peter Coates, who posted an impressive 48 points. Longest Drive honours were taken out by Dave Jordan, while Nearest the Pin was awarded to Stuart McManus. A very special mention goes to Rob Missingham for his spectacular hole‑in‑one on the 127‑metre par‑3 sixth hole — a highlight not previously seen in Navy Golf.
A special thanks to our supporters at Beaver Engineering for their ongoing support and continued commitment to Navy golf events.
A sincere thank you to the Navy Imagery Specialist team for their outstanding work and involvement throughout the event.
Please follow us and stay tuned for our next event in April — the Navy Masters at Brighton Lakes.
