Everyone deserves to live – and die – with dignity and choice.

Today, we’d love your support to bring more comfort to people with a terminal illness, so they can spend more time where they belong, at home.

With your generosity, we can:
💜 Enhance palliative care at home with strengthened clinical support.
💜 Embrace technological innovation using co-designed digital tools that extend human care.
💜 Explore hospital alternatives in home-like, short-stay care settings.

Your tax-deductible gift can help us bring comfort home.

During one of their regular Wednesday visits, Cardiff High School student volunteers Abby, Ruby and Edie arrived at HammondCare Cardiff to be introduced to the game of dominoes by resident expert Alex (supported here by HammondCare volunteer Michael).

Then the students returned the favour and taught Alex the modern game of Uno.

‘It’s wonderful to see them learning from each other – and a great example of the power of intergenerational connection,’ shares HammondCare team member Emma.

We have volunteers of all ages, from school students to retirees. Learn more about volunteering with us here

Today marks the start of National Reconciliation Week – and this year’s theme, All In, is a call to listen, to learn and to keep building respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.

Steve Calder, HammondCare’s General Manager of Pastoral Care and Volunteers, shares: “Reconciliation is closely connected to our Mission. We are committed to improving quality of life for people in need, and that includes listening deeply, learning with humility, and building respectful partnerships with First Nations peoples and communities.”

We acknowledge all First Nations people we support – in our care homes, hospitals and in the wider community; and our team members who share this rich legacy.

HammondCare resident Norma has always loved creating with needle and thread. That passion has grown into a weekly knitting club, where everyone’s welcome - including regular visitors to the care home, Margaret and Mary, pictured here beside Norma.

“Norma’s a shining beacon,” shares Pastoral Care Coordinator Katherine.

“Some residents are just happy to be in the room with her — to share the company and conversation.”

For Norma, it’s all about being together. “We sit around the table knitting and chatting, just like I’ve done all my life. It feels like family.”

HammondCare want to expand our exceptional, person-centred palliative care to bridge the gap between home and hospital, making the final weeks and days more comfortable for more people.

Like Alan, who was cared for at home until his final week, when complications brought him to our palliative care unit.

Today, we’d love your support to bring more comfort to people with a terminal illness, so they spend more time where they belong: home.

Your gift can make that happen.
