🖤 NATIONAL CARERS WEEK 2026

This week, we recognise the dads, father figures and male carers who dedicate so much of their lives to caring for someone they love.

Whether it’s raising a child with autism or additional needs, supporting a partner, or caring for an ageing parent or loved one, every caring journey is different.

The sleepless nights. The appointments. The advocacy. The sacrifices. The emotional load that often goes unseen.

And somewhere amongst it all, we sometimes forget to ask one simple question.

Who’s looking after Dad?

At Dads Speak, we believe that those who care for others deserve to be cared for too.

Every dad and male carer deserves connection, understanding and a space where they don’t have to carry everything alone.

❤️ And we have something BIG coming!

We’re incredibly excited to announce that later this week, we’ll be revealing our BIGGEST EVENT TO DATE, dedicated to bringing dads and male carers together for an experience centred around connection, wellbeing and looking after ourselves.

We’ve been working hard behind the scenes, and we can’t wait to share it with you!

📅 So keep Saturday, 14 November 2026 FREE in your calendar!

Trust us, this is one you won’t want to miss.

No Dad Left Behind. 🖤

💙 SHADOW FITNESS CLUB × DADS SPEAK
| MOVE FOR AUTISM |

We’re proud to announce our collaboration with Dads Speak for this year’s Move for Autism event.

Dads Speak is a registered charity supporting fathers and male carers raising children with disability and additional needs, including autism. Their work focuses on reducing isolation, building stronger family connections and creating opportunities for dads to connect with others who understand their journey.

At Shadow Fitness Club, community has always been about more than training. It’s about showing up for one another, creating meaningful connections and using our community to make a positive difference beyond the gym.

That’s exactly what this collaboration represents.

On Saturday, 24th October at 7:00am, we’ll be coming together for a 70km team challenge, moving for a cause that matters and raising funds and awareness to support Dads Speak and the families they work with.

This event is open to everyone members, non-members, parents, family and friends. You don’t need to be an elite athlete to get involved. You just need to be willing to show up and be part of something bigger than yourself.

Every kilometre, every effort and every person who gets involved helps us create a stronger, more connected community.

Let’s get behind Dads Speak, support the families they serve and show what the Shadow Fitness Club community can do when we come together.

Different minds. Stronger together. Let’s move for more. 💙🥊

School holidays are here for some of us… and while the kids might be off, being a dad or carer doesn’t exactly come with a break.

Tonight, Connect & Reflect is back.

A space for dads and male carers to check in, have a chat, talk about how the week is really going and connect with others who understand the journey.

No judgement. No pressure. Just dads supporting dads.

Sometimes the biggest thing we can do for ourselves is simply make the time to check in.

WEEKLY WRAP-UP 🖤

Another week done.

Some weeks feel like progress.
Some weeks feel like survival.

Either way, you made it through.

Before the weekend gets busy, take a moment to check in with yourself.

How are you really going?
Did you make any time for yourself this week?
Did you speak to someone when things felt heavy?
Did you give yourself credit for everything you carried?

As dads and carers, we spend so much time looking after everyone else that we can forget to check our own tank.

So this weekend, slow down where you can.

Reset. Recharge. Connect.

You don’t have to have everything figured out.

Just keep showing up.

CONNECTING WITH SCHOOLS 🖤

Last week, Dads Speak had the opportunity to attend the Support Unit Network, connecting with educators and support staff who work directly with children and families across our public schools.

It was a great opportunity to share what Dads Speak is all about, the importance of supporting fathers and male carers raising children with additional needs, and how we can work alongside schools to strengthen support for the whole family.

From parent engagement and Father’s Day events to workshops, professional development and wellbeing programs, we want to keep building stronger connections between dads, families, schools and the wider community.

A big thank you to the Support Unit Network for welcoming us and allowing us to share our work. 🖤

CONNECT & REFLECT IS BACK. 🤝
Now on Tuesday nights at 8:30pm.

This month, our message is simple:

No Dad Left Behind.

And that starts with checking in on ourselves.

As dads and male carers, we can get very good at saying, “I’m fine.”

We keep moving.
We keep caring.
We keep showing up for everyone else.

But sometimes it takes sitting with a group of people who genuinely understand your journey to realise that maybe everything isn’t as fine as we’ve been telling ourselves.

Connect & Reflect is your weekly accountability check-in.

A place to stop, take stock of how you’re really going and connect with other dads and male carers who get it.

No judgement.
No pressure.
No need to have the right words.

Talk about yourself.
Talk about the person you care for.
Talk about the wins, the hard days, or simply listen.

Because No Dad Left Behind isn’t just something we say.

It means making sure dads have somewhere to turn before things become too much.

Take an hour.
Fill your cup.
Connect with your tribe.

Dad, R U OKAY?

Today is a reminder that a lot of dads carry a lot quietly.

For many fathers raising children with additional needs, the days can be heavy - appointments, routines, behaviours, finances, work, family pressures, and trying to stay strong through it all.

So today, check in on a dad.
Send the text. Make the call. Ask the question.

“Hey mate, are you okay?”

You don’t need to have all the answers.
You just need to be willing to ask and be there.

Because sometimes one simple conversation can make a real difference.

No dad left behind. 🖤💛

R U OK?

DADS IN SCHOOLS | FATHER’S DAY CONNECTION 🖤

Last week, Dads Speak had the privilege of hosting Father’s Day breakfasts at Passfield Park School and Mary Brooksbank School.

We brought dads together for more than just breakfast. We sat in a circle and had a real conversation about what it’s like being a dad raising a child with additional needs.

We spoke about our journeys, the challenges, the lessons, and one of the biggest wins each dad has experienced over the past year.

There was no pressure to have the right answer. Just dads listening to dads, sharing experiences and connecting with others who understand the journey.

This is what our Dads programs are about — creating spaces where fathers can connect, reflect and know they don’t have to do it alone.

A huge thank you to Passfield Park School and Mary Brooksbank School for welcoming Dads Speak and recognising the importance of supporting dads too. 🖤
