Paws & Recover

Paws & Recover Paws & Recover helps with short-term emergency pet respite care to alleviate peoples worries and fears during times of adversity.
(1)

Paws and Recover is a registered Not For Profit Organisation establishing a social media following of volunteers to support people by sharing the care of their pets during a health crisis and difficult times. Through a network of volunteers, Paws and Recover offers short-term practical help such as dog walking, respite petcare, fostering, feeding, transporting pets to vets and support in assisting

people care for their animals during times of illness. We aim to offer an alternative to people who have no one to help and feel they have no other options. We help people avoid rehoming, abandoning, neglecting or destroying a pet during their owner’s period of ill health.

**Due to our limited resources based on volunteers, we can only offer short-term emergency help for max 3 months.** Based on our rescue principles we are unable to accept undesexed dogs. An option is to desex whilst in our care. If you are needing our help, our full criteria and application form can be found at https://www.pawsandrecover.com/apply-for-care

Please note we are strictly short term - 1 month / maximum of 3 months. For long term situations that unfortunately have long resolution times, such as homelessness, we are not the best option as we cannot house your pet until you find accommodation. We aim to eliminate any stress for pet owners which enables them to focus on their recovery.

* LOVES playing with his ball
* Housetrained
* Happily sleeps until I wake up
* LOVES other dogs & wants to be friends
*He has started jumping at passers-by, so I can only walk him when there are as few people as possible around, and in areas where i can see people coming and give them a wide berth
* Loves other humans - has been very keen to play with people (and dogs) that have visited me

Carer needed for "BOO" an 8 yr old Male Domestic Short Hair currently located in Drummoyne.

Owners health has been steadily deteriorating & affecting her ability to look after Boo. She needs treatment for at least one month to restore her equilibrium & be able to function again.

ABOUT BOO:
Very sweet & loving. Not aggressive in any way. Can be needy & rather unsettled. Boo likes small soft balls to bat around & also pens & empty toilet cardboard rolls. Dislikes being touched on his tummy. Loves butt pats!! He can get anxious in unfamiliar environments but does nor meow.

If you feel you could open your home & heart to this little munchkin for approx. 4 weeks, Boo & his owner would be ever so grateful.

Please email [email protected] with Boo in the subject line & your name , phone number & suburb included in the email.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INCREDIBLE KINDNESS. IT MEANS EVERYTHING

Please share to hep find a foster carer

Foster care needed for Zelda and Albert both 6yo cats - currently located at Homebush West, NSW 2140

Request:
The owner of Zelda and Albert (Lesley) is currently in a treatment ward following a period of deteriorating physical and mental health. Although she is improving, she's likely to remain in the ward for some time before being moved to community treatment. Once owner is discharged, she will be moving back home; however, her capacity to look after her cats will remain low for some time while she's adjusting to community treatment.

About Zelda and Albert:
"Both Zelda and Albert are timid and tend to sleep during the day. Zelda is more sociable; Albert is more skittish and more likely to hide from strangers. Albert needs time to adjust to be comfortable. Zelda needs to be on a dry food diet only, as she's prone to overeating and vomiting." They are microchipped, desexed and vaccinated.

To Help:
The owner does not want to lose her cats. If you are able to foster for about 8 weeks please email foster@pawsandrecover. com with Zelda and Albert in the subject line. Please include your phone number and suburb. Need a safe place for these two

Info if post is shared- Paws and Recover are trying to assist people who have no support care for their pets while they are in hospital.

Foster carer needed for Twix 11 yo Chihuahua and Noddy 13 yo Jack Russel Terrier. Currently located at Hurlstone Park, ...

Foster carer needed for Twix 11 yo Chihuahua and Noddy 13 yo Jack Russel Terrier. Currently located at Hurlstone Park, NSW.

They came into Paws and Recover foster care as owner suffered serious medical issue. Whilst she has now recovered she now has responsibility of moving in to care for her 94yo elderly father and cannot care for them.

Current carer can only keep until 27th August so looking for a kind foster home for these two elderly dogs until we list for rehoming.

About Twix and Noddy:
Noddy and Twix are a friendly, bonded pair who are looking for a loving home where they can stay together.

Noddy is the bigger, more independent of the two, and leads the way so Twix can follow. Where Noddy goes, Twix goes. He is confident, outgoing and nothing really phases him. He's friendly with people, most dogs, and kids. Despite being in a car accident in the past and having a slight waddle, he is still quite active and enjoys the dog park and playing ball at home. At times, he can be stubborn and is clear with his likes and dislikes (he will occasionally growl when being told what to do e.g. go outside to toilet at night, stop him eating something off the ground). A bit of coaxing with pats and treats will get him moving.

Twix absolutely adores Noddy. He will give him kisses in the evening, snuggle up to him in the same bed, and follow him everywhere. He also loves humans and will come up to you for cuddles, pats, hugs and everything in between. In general, he is a very happy boy and you can catch him always wagging his little tail. Although he is very quiet and rarely barks at home, he can get a bit defensive with some bigger dogs and will charge at them, especially if they are near Noddy.

They are both toilet trained, travel well in the car, and have no issues if you have to leave the house, as long as they have each other. Although they won't be able to live with cats, they can live with other dogs who are the right fit. Generally calmer, smaller dogs. Twix may need a bit more time to open up to them, but he enjoys playing once he feels comfortable.

To help:
Please email [email protected] with Twix and Noddy in subject line. Please include your phone number and suburb in your email
