Paws & Recover Paws & Recover helps with short-term emergency pet respite care to alleviate peoples worries and fears during times of adversity.

Paws and Recover is a registered Not For Profit Organisation establishing a social media following of volunteers to support people by sharing the care of their pets during a health crisis and difficult times. Through a network of volunteers, Paws and Recover offers short-term practical help such as dog walking, respite petcare, fostering, feeding, transporting pets to vets and support in assisting people care for their animals during times of illness. We aim to offer an alternative to people who have no one to help and feel they have no other options. We help people avoid rehoming, abandoning, neglecting or destroying a pet during their owner’s period of ill health.

**Due to our limited resources based on volunteers, we can only offer short-term emergency help for max 3 months.** Based on our rescue principles we are unable to accept undesexed dogs. An option is to desex whilst in our care. If you are needing our help, our full criteria and application form can be found at https://www.pawsandrecover.com/apply-for-care

Please note we are strictly short term - 1 month / maximum of 3 months. For long term situations that unfortunately have long resolution times, such as homelessness, we are not the best option as we cannot house your pet until you find accommodation. We aim to eliminate any stress for pet owners which enables them to focus on their recovery.

Foster carer or feeder needed for Pepper - 5 yo female desexed American Staffordshire, currently located at Gymea Bay, Sutherland area Sydney.

Request:
Owner was taken to hospital by emergency for a heart angina attack and is to be in hospital for unspecified period. He is unable to find a sitter to host the dog as his residence is not habitable and he is not employed.

About Pepper:
Pepper is very friendly with people. She is a bit boisterous for young children and may knock them over. She does not get on with cats or other small animals. She will get on with another dog when gradually introduced.

When introduced to another dog, she will play and get on with it. Not good with cats and small animals. She pulls quite hard and needs a firm hand

Pepper does have separation anxiety and only cries when left alone at night. She does not bark. She is a loving dog, but again, can be boisterous. she will cower if spoken to in an angry voice.

Request from social worker:
My client become unwell and require emergency hospital admission. She has no family or friends and has 3 dogs. She just needs assistance while in hospital to care for her dogs. Requesting 2 weeks.

About the dogs:
Gus 12 mo male Shihtzu and 2 younger one Moses and Holly are about 3 yo. All dogs are very friendly. Gus is getting old so doesn't like to be picked up as he has issues with back legs. Younger two are friendly with children but not the older.

Foster carer needed for Missy 8yo bicolour Ragdoll - currently located at Earlwood, Sydney.

Request from neighbour:
One of my neighbours, has been in hospital for health issues for several months. She is very unwell and we don’t know when she will be able to come home.

Missy, her 8 year old cat, a bi-colour ragdoll is being looked after by another neighbour,. He is doing the best he can, but can’t spend allot of time with her. She has had repeated infections, weighs only 2.6kg and seems very depressed. She has also been vomiting, getting diarrhoea and most recently constipation.

She has a very sweet nature and just wants to be with people. Not sure whether she is good with other cats.

Because of owner's health issues, the home is very cluttered, does not get cleaned and smells strongly of mould.

I was wondering if it would be possible to get temporary emergency foster care for her ?

About Missy:
She is super sweet and gentle, loves people. She is very lethargic, withdrawn,
doesn’t move much

Request:

Owner is in hospital and has no family or friends to help. Need someone local to attend and feed the cats. Last fed on weekend.

Length of time can be 2 or 3 weeks or may be less. If multiple people offer we can set up a feeding roster.

Feeder or foster carer needed for a 13 yo elderly cat PC - currently at Erskineville, Sydney.

Request:
Owner has been in hospital for a while and expected to be discharged soon. Feeder had taken over from another but they are scheduled to go away on the 8th October

About PC:
Timid at first , enjoys brushing /patting but isn't a sit on you cuddler .Is picky with food - dine and Aldi dry food. PC has been at home alone for quite some time :(
TV and music on - I have been grooming / feeding approx s in evenings.

Foster carer needed for Coco and Cardi 2 Dachshunds located Sutherland Shire, NSW

Request:
Owner is going into a 5 week treatment plan and has no support to care for her dogs. Treatment starting this week.

About Coco and Cardi:
Coco is toilet trained but Cardi is still a puppy and is still learning. She urinates outside but sometimes poo’s on the tiles (especially when it’s raining). Coco is a picky eater. Cardi loves any kind of food 😂 They are a funny pair and always play fight. They enjoy zoomies and are super cute. They always sleep with me on my bed and get lots of love, cuddles and kisses. Their guilty pleasure is licking haha.

They know commands like wait, okay (when feeding), din dins, yummy, sit, outside, etc. Coco is in the process of learning lie down and roll over. They are really smart and loyal.. especially Coco. Cardi gets really bad separation anxiety. I have a vibrating collar to manage it which helps.

They love playing with their toys. Sometimes Cardi urinates a small puddle/dribble when she excited or scared, but she is a puppy.

Urgent -
Special needs foster carer required for Coco - 9 yo male desexed toy poodle requires regular visit to vet for bandage change.

Coco was unfortunately hit by a car and has an injury to his front foot where he requires a wound bandage change. This is complicated by the fact that initially he will need to be lightly sedated for this procedure due to the sensitivity of the area.

We are seeking a kind compassionate person who can foster Coco and take him to the vet for this procedure. He will need to have a skin graft to help the healing process.

Our wonderful rescue vets are in the following suburbs: Potts Point, Summer Hill, Collaroy, Penrith ,Beecroft or Alexandria. Ideally you will be local to one of the above or neighboring suburbs to make transport easier.

About Coco:
Coco is a velcro lap dog, loves affection , very sweet, escape artist.
He is used to having someone home.

ARIELLE'S mum is scheduled for hospital on the 5th Oct for 3 weeks She needs to know that her little one will be safe & sound & well cared for during this time so that she can focus on her recovery & look forward to reuniting with ARIELLE.

About ARIELLE:

A beautiful, affectionate, "friendly with everyone" type of girl. She may be shy & reticent at first, but as soon as she knows you're ok, she's all cuddles & kisses & no tomorrow's! ARIELLE loves her walks, playing with her toys & friends.
She is a bit wary of bigger dogs, having been harassed & bullied by them as a puppy. No problem with cats or young children.

FOSTER CARE for INDIE...........Woorim, Bribey Island

INDIE ~ A gorgeous 9 yr old Female German Shepherd NOW needs FOSTERING please.

Indie's Mum has broken her hip & is in hospital for immediate surgery with intense rehabilitation & physio to follow. It appears that she will be needing more than the initial 3 -6 weeks anticipated

ABOUT INDIE:
A beautiful friendly girl. Well trained. Very chilled especially when at home. Walks well with a harness. Ok with larger dogs around but best to avoid smaller dogs as she has had less socialization recently & is less patient as she's matured! No issues with separation anxiety. Occasionally barks at strangers. Overall, a very easy, happy girl to look after. Loves cuddles & laying at your feet. Loves chicken necks!!

PLEASE if you think you could provide INDIE a nurturing, loving home like environment while Mum is getting the care that she needs, we would love to hear from YOU.

INDiE is ultimately an indoor dog, happy to be with you for cuddles & down time. Prob best suited to an older children household mainly due to her size. Her last foster, she happily shared with 2 large Labradors

SHORT NOTICE TRANSPORT REQUEST ~

On Wed 30th Sept , we need transport from Stanmore to Orchard Hills arriving by 9 am & Orchard Hills to Stanmore Wed afternoon.

Taking 2 dogs to an important pre-arranged vet appointment.

If you can assist both ways that would be tremendously helpful but even one way would be amazing!.
