DeClassified Music | 2025: Ambient Delights

Featuring pianist Brieley Cutting with star musicians Dan Lopez (violin), Eleanor Streatfeild (cello), Luke Spicer (viola), Bonita Han-Williams (double bass)* and composer/live electronics performer Mark Oliveiro.

“We have been looking to work on a project together for some time. Ultimately, we were inspired by wanting to include double bass, so we programmed Schubert’s ‘Trout’ Piano Quintet - one of the most well known and loved works of chamber music. The addition of brand new music from Mark is building on the joy DeClassified Music had of producing and performing his fabulous ‘Cyborg Salon’ in the 2023 Sydney Fringe Festival, our performance being nominated for the festival’s Best in Music category.”

Brieley Cutting - Pianist and violinist Doretta Balkizas present a recital of masterworks from the French and German repertory. Linked by their glowing, radiant sounds and uplifting moods, the program has been curated to showcase music of inherent beauty and lyrical charm.

Doretta, recently returned to Australia after a decade in Germany and newly appointed as Lecturer in Violin at the University of Queensland, joins Brieley for this collaboration.

Fabulous violinist Doretta Balkizas will be joining Brieley Cutting - Pianist for the ongoing ‘Lyrical Masterpieces’ performances for 2025.

Having been based in Germany for 10 years, Doretta has returned to Australia and is the newly appointed Lecturer in Violin at the School of Music, University of Queensland.

Brieley and Doretta are excited to present an exquisite program of music full of glowing sounds and radiant melodies from Debussy, Lili Boulanger, Messiaen, Margaret Sutherland and Brahms.
