With your help, we can turn lives around.

When Rodney* found himself suddenly homeless, he did what many people in his situation do, he tried to get through each day however he could.

Friends’ couches. Boarding houses. Nights spent wherever there was a space to rest. Getting back on his feet didn’t feel easy, especially when there seemed to be barriers at every turn. When your rental history is affected, finding a safe place to live can feel a long way out of reach.
It was only when Rodney connected with HopeStreet that things started to shift. With the support of a case worker, he began navigating a system that can feel overwhelming. Someone to advocate for him, make calls and help open doors that once felt closed.

HopeStreet also provided practical support, free or low-cost groceries, meals served with a smile and community barbecues. “I’ve taken veggies home and made soup,” Rodney says.

What he also found was something else he'd been desperately missing - a sense of community.
“At first I felt so alienated… but then you get to talk to people and they’ve got the same problems,” he says.

What started as isolation became connection, people who understood, friendships that felt equal and a place where he could belong.

Your generous donation means we can continue to provide this kind of support to people experiencing homelessness - safe accommodation pathways, nourishing food and places of connection. The need is urgent. If you have been thinking of giving, please give today 👉 https://appeal.baptistcare.org.au/

At HopeStreet Dubbo, we’re often amazed by the generosity of our local community.

Recently that generosity arrived in the form of fresh milk from Little Big Dairy Co.

The family-owned Dubbo business kindly donated eight boxes of this beautifully healthy, delicious milk to support our food services, helping us to provide nutritious breakfasts, lunches and practical support to local people in need.

A heartfelt thank you to the team at The Little Big Dairy Co. for standing alongside BaptistCare HopeStreet, and the individuals and families we serve. 💙

Help end hidden homelessness.

Rodney* didn’t expect to become homeless.

He worked in a high-stress job for years, then faced personal tragedies that left him struggling to cope. When he was suddenly wrongfully evicted with virtually no notice, everything unravelled.

Rodney became part of a growing crisis of hidden homelessness, where people may not be sleeping rough, but still don’t have a safe or stable place to live.

It can look like couch surfing, moving between boarding houses, or sleeping in churches and community centres where compassion means doors are left open.

Your gift can help turn things around, with practical support that leads to safety and stability.

$46: Everyday essentials and support
Your gift of $46 helps people like Rodney access hands-on support to navigate housing stress, along with fresh food and practical essentials to get through each day.

$72: Safe accommodation
Your gift of $72 helps HopeStreet secure safe, stable accommodation and cover upfront housing costs like a bond or a no-interest loan.

$108: HopeStreet hub communities
Your $108 gift helps create welcoming HopeStreet hubs where people find connection, rebuild confidence and experience a sense of belonging, because homelessness is isolating and healing happens in community.

It’s winter and the need is urgent, for those sleeping rough and for the many more facing it behind closed doors. Give today and help someone like Rodney take their next step towards safety, stability and hope 👉 https://appeal.baptistcare.org.au/

This winter, help people like Rodney find a place to call home.

Not long ago, Rodney* was an ordinary, hardworking bloke. Then a wrongful eviction meant he was suddenly homeless. With nowhere stable to land and unhealthy ways of coping with the stress, his physical and mental health began to decline.

“I was getting thrown out. Like, can they do this?” he asks.

Sadly, his story isn’t rare. On Census night in 2021, an estimated 122,494 people in Australia were experiencing homelessness. But what many people don’t realise is that around 94% of homelessness is hidden, only a small percentage are sleeping rough. That’s where Rodney found himself. He moved between short stays on friends’ couches, unsafe boarding houses and nights spent wherever he could find shelter.

“I got in out of the air and put down a blanket and tried to sleep for a bit,” he says.

For years, Rodney had worked in a high-stress job while navigating personal tragedies. Over time, the pressure built and he turned to drugs to cope, something he’s not proud of. But Rodney's story turned when he found HopeStreet.

With support from a case worker, Rodney began moving towards safer, more stable accommodation. He received practical help, including access to nourishing meals.

But what stayed with him most was the sense of community. What started as isolation became connection, people who understood, friendships that felt equal and a place where he could belong.

“A little community in the community,” Rodney says.

This winter, someone like Rodney will face the cold night alone. But with the right support, that story can change. Please donate today to help HopeStreet reach people experiencing homelessness, both those sleeping rough and the many more facing it behind closed doors.

Your support can provide warm meals, safe accommodation pathways and a caring community when it’s needed most. If you’ve been thinking about giving, make today the day 👉 https://appeal.baptistcare.org.au/

We’re pleased to share that BaptistCare has entered into an agreement to acquire two retirement living communities – Elouera in North Wollongong and Park Linn Haven in Bowral. 🏡

These small, close-knit villages are home to 34 independent living units across the Illawarra and Southern Highlands. We look forward to welcoming residents and tenants into the BaptistCare community from 1 July 2026. 🤝

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be meeting with residents and tenants to share more information and answer any questions. We are committed to a positive transition, with a focus on connection and supporting people to live well in their communities. 💙

🚴‍♂️ Thank you, BVN Architecture!

We’re incredibly grateful to BVN Architecture for supporting the 2026 Chain Reaction Challenge. 💙

Over seven days, our riders cycled more than 1,000 km around Adelaide, along the coast, through the vineyards and up into the formidable climbs of the Adelaide Hills, in a challenge that tested both strength and endurance.

Behind every kilometre is something bigger. Funds raised help power HopeStreet’s children’s programs, providing early support for families, creating safe and welcoming spaces, and helping young people stay connected to school and community ✨

Thank you BVN for helping make this possible. With your support, children and families facing tough circumstances can access care, connection and a way forward 🤝

🚴‍♂️ Thank you Buildcorp!

Our heartfelt thanks to Buildcorp for sponsoring the 2026 BaptistCare Chain Reaction Challenge team! 💙

This year, the BaptistCare team rode 1,000 km in seven days through the South Australian countryside, from the rolling Adelaide Hills to McLaren Vale, Victor Harbour and the Barossa, to the heart-thumping climbs of Mount Barker and Hahndorf.

Funds raised from the ride support children through BaptistCare HopeStreet’s children’s programs. These programs offer a safe place to land, early help for families in need and support that keeps young people connected to education and their community.

Thank you, Buildcorp for being by our side and sponsoring the BaptistCare Chain Reaction Challenge team. Because of partners like you, children are not facing tough days alone. 🙏

You can still show support for our team and help change lives for children and families who need it most. 👉 Visit: https://www.chain-reaction.org.au/fundraisers/baptistcarehopestreet

🚴‍♂️ Day 7 – Across the finish line 🏁

As we close the chapter on the Chain Reaction Challenge, we want to say a heartfelt thank you. Because of you - our donors, supporters, sponsors and riders - this challenge became far more than a physical achievement. It became an opportunity to change lives.

We were honoured to conclude the Challenge by welcoming riders, organisers and the support crew to BaptistCare’s WestCare Centre for breakfast - a place, like HopeStreet, where vital community support is provided to people doing it tough.

As BaptistCare CEO Charles Moore, who again rode in the Challenge, shared, “The WestCare Centre is the heartbeat of BaptistCare SA. Working with rough sleepers and addiction - all of which affects children’s lives - we try to break the cycle through food hubs, counselling, medical assistance and safe places to sleep.”

That shared sense of purpose - made possible by the generosity of donors, sponsors and supporters - carried riders through every climb and every long day on the road. ⛰️

Over a demanding week in the Adelaide Hills, riders experienced moments of fatigue, relief, pride and shared joy - all in service of something bigger. 🙌

“People have challenged themselves personally, mentally and physically,” Charles reflected. “They’ve now raised over $630k for So They Can and HopeStreet - an incredible amount that will transform lives.”

For rider Sam Hall, BaptistCare Head of Home Care Transformation, it captured what the Challenge is all about, “It’s a double win… you’ve pushed yourself and come through it, and you’ve raised a lot of money for good - for kids in need.”

To our riders, donors, supporters and sponsors - thank you. Because of you, every kilometre ridden will help create brighter futures for children and families. ❤️

🚴‍♂️Chain Reaction: Breakfast at WestCare before the final push! 🍳☕

An early start at BaptistCare’s WestCare centre in Adelaide, where Chef Gary and six volunteers had breakfast on from 5.30 am.

Kate McGarry, General Manager, Community Services SA/WA, opened with an Acknowledgement of Country in two languages on Kaurna Country.

Her colleague, Phil Bunyon, Senior Manager, Community Pathways, reflected that our riders have cycled across four Aboriginal lands over the past week. He painted a vivid picture of the local trees and flora, a reminder of the deep history and care that has shaped this land over generations. 🌳

Phil also shared how BaptistCare WestCare supports people in ways similar to HopeStreet in NSW, working alongside trusted partners to provide health and community support. His message was simple: when organisations and communities come together, people doing it tough can find practical help, dignity and a pathway forward, even as homelessness continues to grow.

BaptistCare COO, Community and Housing, Robyn Evans, thanked all riders for their outstanding cycling and fundraising efforts.

After our team declared it the best breakfast they’d had all week, it was time for one last ride. BaptistCare’s Sam Hall, Head of Home Care Transformation, pulled on the Sprint Jersey and headed out with fellow jersey winners for the final leg of the 2026 Chain Reaction Challenge! 💙

The route would take them back into the steep, unrelenting climbs of Basket Range and Stirling, before finally rolling down the Adelaide Hills to begin the long journey home.

There’s still time to support the Chain Reaction Challenge. 🙏 Every donation helps bring practical support to children who need it most, 👉 https://www.chain-reaction.org.au/fundraisers/baptistcarehopestreet
