Yesterday we had the privilege of hosting the Sri Lankan NDIS Community Support Circle, organised by Ru Mudalige and myself. It was a meaningful gathering that brought our community together to start an important conversation.

The main reason behind organising this event was to help break the stigma around disability within the Sri Lankan community. Many families are navigating disability quietly and often on their own, as seeking support can still feel difficult for various reasons.

Through this support circle, we wanted to create a safe space where families can ask questions freely, share experiences, and feel supported without judgement. No family should have to go through this journey alone.

A heartfelt thank you to Rameesha Dabarera, Indu Haridaran and Amanda Wickramage for sharing your expertise, knowledge and experiences. Your contribution made this session truly valuable.

This conversation will not end here. We hope to bring the community together again in the coming months.

Together, we are stronger.
