“A Mason’s charity should know no bounds save those of prudence.”
Once again, the Freemasons of District 33 have demonstrated this important Masonic teaching—not merely in words, but through meaningful action and service to our community.
Through the 2026 Grand Master’s Sleep Out, led by our Grand Master, M W Bro Khris Albano, the Masonicare – The Grand Charity granted $40,000 to District 33 for distribution to two foundations nominated by District 33 for their valuable work in supporting people experiencing homelessness in our community.
Accordingly, the Bill Crews Foundation and Fair Foundations each received $20,000, transforming the generosity and collective efforts of the Brethren into meaningful assistance for those who need it most.
Likewise, the Leukaemia Foundation will receive $10,000—or even more!—from the proceeds of the District 33 Masonic Awards and Gala Night, with MasoniCare – The Grand Charity matching the amount dollar for dollar, effectively doubling the funds raised through this historic event and further extending our collective support to those affected by leukaemia and blood cancer.
This charitable endeavour was spearheaded by DGIW V W Bro Edward Banting and District Secretary - W Bro Jomz PS, with Lodge Honour 1054 and Lodge Merrylands 869 working closely together in conceptualising and helping bring the initiative to life. It was made possible through the wholehearted support and cooperation of all Lodges of District 33, together with the generous support of Brethren from outside the District.
The District 33 Masonic Awards and Gala Night was also an occasion to recognise the dedication, service, and contribution of Brethren and Lodges both within and beyond District 33.
Special Awards were presented to deserving Brethren and Lodges from outside District 33, in recognition of their friendship, support, and valuable contribution to the District and to the Craft.
At the same time, a number of awards were exclusively dedicated to Brethren and Lodges within District 33. The recipients of these District awards were carefully reviewed, assessed, and selected by the Past DGIWs of District 33, providing an independent and experienced assessment of those whose work and dedication distinguished them during the Masonic Year.
For Masonic Year 2025–2026, we are especially proud that several Brethren of Lodge Honour 1054 were among those recognised:
Bro. George Asmar — Entered Apprentice Freemason (EAF) of the Year
Bro. Eric Amador — Fellow Craft of the Year
Bro. Dennis Ian Anog - Master Mason of the Year
W Bro. John Mchale Riomalos Jr — Senior Warden of the Year
V W Bro Gene Capistrano- District Ritualist of the Year
These individual honours are not only a recognition of their personal achievements, but also a reflection of the commitment of the entire Lodge to Masonic education, ritual proficiency, personal development, and excellence in the Craft.
Congratulations to our awardees. You have brought great honour and pride to Lodge Honour 1054 – Home of the Few Good Men.
More importantly, congratulations and our sincere appreciation to all the nominees and awardees, our sponsors, all seven Lodges of District 33, our Brethren throughout the District, distinguished guests, Ladies, and our Brethren and Lodges from other Districts who have supported us throughout the year.
Once again, we have proven that Freemasonry is not confined within the walls of our Lodges.
The lessons we learn within our Lodge rooms must find expression beyond them. Our principles are not meant merely to be spoken in ritual, but to be lived through our actions—through Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth; through compassion, generosity, service to those in need, and the continuous pursuit of excellence as Freemasons.
This is Freemasonry in action.
This is Charity beyond the Lodge.
This is District 33.
Congratulations, Brethren. May we continue to put our Masonic teachings into practice and extend the hand of charity wherever it is needed.
