Get Repost App • Tata Trusts In most parts of India, a girl’s first period is still a secret to be kept, not a conversation to be had. For many, it arrives without understanding and they are felt without language and guidance for what is happening to their bodies.

“It is also a question of whether women have the information, privacy, and agency to navigate menstruation with dignity.” — Divyang Waghela, Deputy Head of Programmes and Head, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH), Tata Trusts.

Research across Jharkhand, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh shows how deep this runs. A girl’s period is still understood as a sign she is ready for marriage. Through Maheena Aa Gaya, the Tata Trusts brings communities together to see periods as they truly are: a sign of health.

Meet the Nominees | Global Women of Influence Awards 2026

Introducing Ms Saroni Roy, Indian-Australian actor, model, singer, filmmaker, keynote speaker, philanthropist, and Sacred Purpose Limitless Mindset Coach — a woman whose courage, creativity, and compassionate service have made her one of Australia’s most extraordinary voices for change.

Based in Sydney, Ms Roy is a cancer survivor navigating multiple progressive disabilities who has transformed personal adversity into a global platform for body activism, gender equity, and multicultural dialogue. As a pioneering body activist, she challenges narrow definitions of beauty and ability with grace, conviction, and lived authority.

Her creative milestones are historic. She became the first Indian-Australian actor and model featured in the 2026 FHM Australia Calendar and ranked sixth globally in the MAXIM USA Covergirl Competition among more than 10,000 contestants. Her portrait earned the Portrait Master’s Bronze Award in Los Angeles, making her the first Indian-origin model to receive this distinguished international honour.

Recognised as one of the Most Influential Asian Australians in 2023 and 2024, she has held landmark leadership roles at the MEAA, Forbes Women Australia, and the Australian-Indian Orchestra. Her Saroni Roy Foundation drives transformative initiatives including the MAHATMA Peace Symposium and Super Naari, a period equity programme addressing period poverty globally.

She does not simply lead; she liberates.

✨ Join us in celebrating Ms Saroni Roy, a truly deserving Global Women of Influence Awards 2026 nominee.
