We’re pleased to let all Mudjimba Hall hirers and users know that we have added a defibrillator to our assets at the Hall.

Many thanks to our Treasurer and handy handyman Glenn Dye who installed the lifesaving equipment, which is all set up.

Next step is to ensure as many as possible in our community are CPR trained.

Mudjimba Surf Life Saving Club could steer you in the right direction or our local also offer CPR and first aid training.

The recent Sunshine Coast Council budget has caused some consternation for residents, however thanks to Councillor Taylor Bunnag - Division 8, Sunshine Coast Regional Council there is some great news for Mudjimba residents re capital works projects.

As part of this weeks council budget Taylor has secured funding for several capital works projects in Mudjimba:

A new pathway on Catalina Drive;

Renewal of the boardwalk at Beach Access 124;

Access to some land and construction of a new storage facility on Cottonwood Street for the Mudjimba Longboard Club, Mudjimba Beach Boardriders and Mudjimba SLSC;

and

Detailed design works for the Mudjimba RSL Sub-Branch to re-configure the cenotaph and surrounding area in Power Memorial Park.

In addition, construction on the much-anticipated shelter over the deck at Beach Access 124 will commence in late June, which will not be impacted by the future boardwalk renewal as the roof structure will be detached.

The MRA are also co-ordinating the activation for our community during the Atlas Marathon in August.

VP Nikole Cassin is working with local businesses and is keen on hearing your ideas on what we can do to make the event even better then last years.

Local Mudjimba business owners, I would like to invite you to an open planning meeting for the Atlas Marathon event returning to Mudjimba on Sunday 2 August.

With discretionary funding being provided by Councillor Taylor Bunnag to support the local event activation, Mudjimba Residents Association wants to work with local businesses early so this year’s event benefits the broader Mudjimba community.

We will be holding an open planning meeting on Sunday 14 June at 6.30 pm at the Mudjimba Community Hall. This will be a chance to meet, go over ideas, discuss what worked last year, and look at how we can make this year even stronger.

Last year was a great success. We had activations in the park, including Bubbleology and face painting for kids, a free sausage sizzle provided by the MRA, and two music groups playing on the day, with one at High Tide and one in the park.

This year, we would like to involve more local businesses, services and community contributors wherever possible. The goal is to bring more energy into Mudjimba, support local traders, create a better experience for runners and spectators, and use the available funding in a way that has a positive local impact.

If you own or manage a local business, please come along with ideas about what you might like to do in your own space, what you could contribute to the event atmosphere, or what would help your business benefit from the day. Ideas could include food and coffee offers, runner specials, music, family activities, prizes, shopfront promotions, recovery and wellness offers, event day signage or anything else that helps create more community engagement than last year.

This is not about asking businesses to carry the event. It is about getting everyone involved early enough that we can shape the day properly and make sure Mudjimba benefits.

Open planning meeting: Sunday 14 June, 6.30 pm, Mudjimba Community Hall.

Please comment below or message me if you would like to be included.

The Mudjimba Residents Association want to reassure our Residents and local businesses we are being proactive to try and curb the growing trend of anti-social behaviour, vandalism and assaults from a group of youth who are descending on Mudjimba from out of town on weekends in recent weeks and months.

We are equally frustrated and dismayed that it appears a 14 year old female youth as a ring leader with a string of enablers can cause so much chaos, harm and damage in such a short space of time and it appears little to nothing can be done about it.

The MRA has been proactive and this morning spoke with Senior Constable Troy Cavill of Coolum Police about the latest incidents on Saturday 9 May 2026.

The MRA appreciates and support our local Police who are equally frustrated and are struggling under a resourcing and capacity front dealing with issues across their area Queensland Police Service.

They also need our help to ensure we report constantly the activity of this individual and/or accomplices to help support them in being resourced so they can better respond to this issue.

Despite the social media commentary, Police are actioning within limited constraints Youth Crime measures against individual/s. They can only do what they are allowed to within the system.

They advise us that there are next to no reports being made to Police directly and/or via Police link and we encourage everyone even if you think it’s pointless ‘and it’s of no value’ to ring and report any damage, concerns or incidents this group is causing.

Because it’s only through the weight of reports that DO and WILL matter and help support our Police that these issues can be resolved lawfully without frustrations leading to vigilante retribution or justice.

The MRA have invited Senior Sgt Brad Doolan District Duty Officer Sunshine Coast to our General Meeting at Mudjimba Hall 7.00pm June 16. He has accepted our invitation .

We urge all community members to take this opportunity to attend the meeting to ensure your voice and concerns are heard. Councillor Taylor Bunnag - Division 8, Sunshine Coast Regional Council will also be in attendance to update the community on the Power Park lighting initiative and other Council investments in our community to compliment rising public safety concerns.

The world is changed by those who show up, so if you value what we all share and love about our community please ensure you make it a priority to attend the meeting and have your voice heard.
