Raising boys today feels more complicated than ever. Between the daily battles over screen time, sudden drops in school motivation, and explosive emotional outbursts, it is easy to feel overwhelmed.

To help our families navigate these challenges, Deception Bay North State School has secured free access to a live "Ask Me Anything" online session with Dr Justin Coulson on June 16.

Celebrating the launch of his highly anticipated new book, BOYS, Dr Coulson will be answering your most pressing questions about how to deeply connect with your son, manage the ongoing tension around screens, and guide him toward becoming a good, resilient man.

When: Tuesday 16 June 2026 | 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM AEST

📚✨ BOOK FAIR TIME! ✨📚

Deception Bay North State School P&C is excited to welcome families to our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair from Monday 18th May to Friday 22nd May in the P&C Room!

With it being National Reading Month, there’s no better time to encourage a love of reading and let students discover some exciting new books.

All students will attend with their class
Monday 18th May & Tuesday 19th May, where they will each have the opportunity to complete a wish list of their favourite titles to take home to parents.

Can’t make it in person?
No problem! You can also order online by scanning the QR code on the take-home flyer sent home with students.

DBNSS Mother’s Day Stall – How Pre-Orders Work (Qkr & EFTPOS)

Our Mother’s Day Stall will be held on Tuesday 5th May and Wednesday 6th May during school hours.

Each class will visit the stall one at a time with their teacher, giving every child the opportunity to choose special gifts.

Classes visiting Tuesday are 1B, 2B, 3A, 3B, 4/5A, 4/5B & 4/5C.

Classes visiting Wednesday are Prep A, Prep B, 1A, 2A, 4/5D, 5/6A, 5/6B & 5/6C.

We are still accepting cash payments, Cash to be in a named envelope or bag.

Gift Options & Prices
We have dozens of lovely gift options available, with prices ranging from $1 to $15, so there is something for every budget.

Qkr Pre-Orders (Recommended Option)
To make the process easy for students, we offer pre-payment via the Qkr App.

- All Qkr pre-orders are organised by class
- When each class arrives at the stall, we will call out the names of students who have pre-paid
- We will let each child know how much they have to spend
- Our volunteers will then help them choose gifts that add up to their prepaid amount

Qkr Closing Time
Please note that Qkr pre-orders close at 9:00am on Tuesday 5th May.

EFTPOS Pre-Pay Option (Before School)
If you miss the Qkr cut-off, we will also offer EFTPOS pre-payment before school on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

This works the same way as Qkr:

- Payments are recorded against your child’s name and class
- They will be called up and assisted with shopping during their class visit

🗓 Tuesday 5th May – Friday 8th May

✨ Prepay now on Qkr! Closes 5th May 9.00am

💳 EFTPOS preorder available @ The P&C Room
⏰ Tuesday 5th May ONLY | 8:15am – 9:00am

We’re excited to invite our school community to our Tuckshop Easter Fun Day! Join us in Week 9 – Friday 27th March from 3:00pm–4:00pm, straight after school.

👉 Please note: All students must be supervised by a parent or carer during the event.

The fun will be happening around the tuckshop area – a great chance for families to stay, connect, and enjoy some Easter-themed activities together! 🐣

• Easter arts & crafts
• Outdoor games
• Egg & spoon races
• Music
• Face painting & temporary tattoos
