Tune into this episode to hear about:
🌿 The roles different trees different roles in ecosystem restoration
🌿The different stages of ecosystem recovery, from rapidly growing pioneers to slower growing species here for the long haul
🌿Some of the remarkable species we are replanting in the Sunshine Coast and Hinterland area

πŸ’¦ New episode! Water Quality and Why What We Do on the Land Matters πŸ’¦

The latest shows water quality in the Maroochy and Mooloolah rivers has been declining over the last 10 years and is now rated as 'fair'.

Our aquatic ecosystems are vital for biodiversity, our drinking water and their connection to the ocean.

In this episode, I explain:
βœ… What a catchment is and how it functions
βœ… The positive impact of increasing native vegetation along waterways
βœ… Practical steps you can take in your own backyard to support waterway health

We value our rivers for so many reasons, from the species that live and breed in them to the morning paddles and swims we enjoy in them.

πŸ¦… How many wildlife are killed on roads each year and
πŸ¦… The positive impact that well-designed roads can have on wildlife
πŸ¦… How Chris is helping to bridge the gap between research and practitioners
πŸ¦… His involvement in and other community groups

Chris is passionate about community and leadership and how we can use scientific data in the best way to improve landscape connectivity for wildlife. I really enjoyed chatting with Chris, he has so much to share!

🐒 We Grow Episode 2: Biodiversity Explained 🐒

In this episode, I ask a few "What if?" questions. What if we were to lose some (or all) of the species that are currently at risk of extinction? What would this mean for the ecosystems where these plants and animals live?

To explore this, I explain what an ecosystem is and what biodiversity means.

I also look at a few examples: the moa, which became extinct in New Zealand due to hunting, and the humpback whale, whose population has soared following global action 🐳.

You'll also be guided on a brief grounding practice in this episode 🌟.
