There are no planned repair cafe events, as yet, as the Jacksons Hill Arts and Cultural precinct is not open to the public. In the meantime Karen and Danny Ellis of MiA will be undertaking a small e-waste transformative reuse and repair study in our artist-in-residence studio in Building 22.

Repairs from 10 January 2026 to 16 February 2026. Data entered into the International Repair Monitor on 5 March 2026.

Most repaired items were returned to the local TIP Shop for re-sale back into our local community. Our service is pro bono and we endeavour to keep e-waste and textiles from being downcycled or landfilled.

Our self-initiated reuse study, that also includes repair [because we can't help ourselves], keeps us busy most days with cleaning, fixing and data entry.

Merry Fixmas 2025. 🧵🪡⚒️⚒️🛠️🪚🧰

Today 28 December we recorded what we repaired over Christmas into the International Repair Monitor.

Here are the updated statistics, including the 15 recent items. The stats are easy to interpret and provide valuable insights into the value of repair.

JHRC has a repair success rate of 78 percent compared to the international success rate of 63 percent. Why? Our sessions run from a home workshop with dedicated space, excellent lighting, tools, hardware consumables and time!

JHRC will be repairing less during the festive season but if something comes onto the workbench from the e-waste bins at the local Sunbury Resource Recovery Facility we will try and repair it for re-sale back into the community, via the TIP Shop.

JHRC results are in for the week 2 Nov to 9 Nov 2025. Only 5 items on the workbench this week. Four were textiles and one was electronic. Only the textiles could be mended.

Whilst many repair cafes will close over December and January, JHRC will continue to fix those broken items we retrieve from e-waste crates.

Looking for some of our repaired e-products, check them out at Sunbury TIP Shop.

JHRC results are in for the week 27 October to 1 November.

11 items for repair but no hope fixing the vintage audio due to broken mechanisms, discovered after disassembly.

Maybe if harvested spare parts were available these devices could have been fixed. They will end up back as e-waste.

78.3 % repair rate on 360 registered items for repair is very satisfying and proves that stuff can have a second-life!

JHRC results are in for the week 21-26 October, 2025.

14 Items for fixing with two irreparable due to parts not available and too time consuming.

JHRC has a current fix it rate of 79% compared to global success rate of 63%. Would that suggest fixing in a dedicated workshop with parts and tools available, accounts for the higher percentage?
