rethink, reduce, reuse, repair, repurpose, recycle and replace single-use. We aim to increase demand for reused, repaired and recovered items, and highlight sustainable and ethical services.

People keep asking how big our $40 Fill-a-Bag bags are, so Dario kindly volunteered to investigate 🐕

After a thorough inspection, we can now confirm:

The bag is Dario-sized ✅

Dario would, however, like it officially noted that he is very big 💪

We can also confirm that the bag can fit either:

* One Dario
OR
* Around $150 worth of clothes and textiles

Unfortunately, it cannot fit both 😅

Dario has inspected the bag personally and gives it a four tiny paws up🐾 🐾

🎨✂️ ARTISTS, MAKERS & DESIGN STUDENTS — DID YOU KNOW? 👀

Last year, Re Place gave away a whopping 5.4 tonnes of clothing and textiles for FREE 🤯

We also sold 5.9 tonnes, which means we gave away almost as much as we sold, something we’re incredibly proud of ☺️

Of the free items, 222kg went directly to artists and makers in our community, creative humans passionate about giving reclaimed textiles a second life through art, design, fashion, costumes, soft furnishings and all sorts of other wonderfully clever things ✨

What some people don’t know is that if you’re a maker, artist, design student or just someone seeking some textiles that may be a bit damaged, you’re welcome to ask us about rummaging through our back-of-house recycling and repurposing stock 👀

Yep, the stuff the public doesn’t usually see. The weird bits. The offcuts. The “this could become something amazing” pile 😍

And if you’re a design student, textiles that we have out on the floor for sale, are FREE, if they’re for an assignment. Because we know how expensive study can be, and if we can help support emerging creatives while keeping textiles in circulation, we absolutely will 🙌

💛 COMMUNITY UPDATE: THE SAFE WINDOW PROJECT 💛

A little while ago, we asked our beautiful community for curtain donations to support the Safe Window Project, an initiative created by social worker Yarrie, who supports people living in social housing 🏠

Yarrie noticed that many people moving into housing didn’t have proper window coverings, and in some cases were making do with things like plastic, newspaper or fabric scraps. So she started the Safe Window Project because everyone deserves privacy, comfort and dignity in their own home 🫶

We’re so happy to share that thanks to your generosity, we collected the 30 pairs of curtains needed 🙌

And last week, the very first order went out to support a woman moving into her own social housing home 🥳

We are incredibly proud to be supporting Yarrie as she finds her feet with this new initiative and helping however we can to get this practical, meaningful idea off the ground 💙

Thank you to every single person who donated, you’ve helped turn a house into a home. We will keep you posted with future collections! 🙏

We are struggling to keep our pants up 😭😂

Before anyone gets the wrong idea… we desperately need clip hanger donations 😅

Our pants, skirts and shorts are currently in a giant pile awaiting to be hung and racked because we have just about run out of hangers 😬

If you have spare clip hangers that are in good condition that are lurking in your wardrobe, laundry, spare room, doom pile, or that weird cupboard where random household items go to die… PLEASE bring them to us 😜

📍 You can drop them to Re Place at the Sustainability Hub, 7 Prospect Rd, Summer Hill during our opening hours. Please do not leave them outside or at the gate when we are not there 🙏

We could also do with some plastic or wooden ones (but not felt or wire!) but these are not so urgent🫶

Want to get rid of your damaged or unwanted clothes knowing that they won't end up offshore or in landfill? And get rewarded?🤑

Re Place guarantees that your clothes will be sent to their highest purpose, whether that’s reuse, repurpose, repair or recycle and we have NEVER sent anything to landfill! ♻

🚨Drop offs are strictly Wednesdays between 2pm and 6pm 🚨

Please do NOT drop off clothes outside of these hours (or get mad at us if you try to and we say no 😘 We love you but we have strict hours to match the capacity of our space and volunteer team 💚)

HOW IT WORKS:

👉 Our volunteers assess your clothes for damage while you wait
👉 We sort items into piles for reuse, repurpose or recycling
👉 We weigh what you bring so you can see how much you’ve kept out of landfill
👉 Reusable clothes: FREE to drop off
👉 Items for recycling or repurposing: a FEE to drop off

You can either pay for recycling and repurposing or take those items back 👍🏼

If you do pay, the fees go to Upparel, who transform unwearable and damaged clothing into an amazing new circular material called Uptex 🙌

AND to reward you for being an awesome human and choosing to responsibly recycle your clothes and textiles, you receive a voucher of equal value to spend in our preloved warehouse which even includes our Premium Picks and Vintage racks (e.g. spend $10 in fees = receive a $10 voucher).

So basically, instead of paying for your next thrift haul, pay to recycle your damaged clothes and swap them for awesome ones 😜
