Campaspe Squirrel Gliders

Campaspe Squirrel Gliders The endangered Squirrel glider needs a home. We build and install nesting boxes and plant fodder trees along the Campaspe River near Echuca.

A captive breeding program for gliders, the Strathallan Glider Sanctuary began in 2015.

“Many hands came together to plant hundreds of trees, helping to restore critically endangered woodland and create future habitat for the endangered Gang-gang Cockatoo.” 🌱

Joey Scouts visit!
A small but delightful group of Joey Scouts from Kyabram met and fed our captive bred Squirrel Gliders on Sunday afternoon.
They bought almond nuts as a gift to the sleepy gliders then fed them carefully through the cage netting.
Later at yeatime the happy and excited young native animal lovers helped to feed a fruit and vegetable with nectar mix to the endangered little mammals.
Eight year old Dustan showed and shared a clever squirrel glider poster that he made. The well written and produced document, will be shared with other children who visit the Sanctuary. Thanks Dustan!

Australia's native forests are irreplaceable, but are under grave threat from logging that continues. 🪵

The Wilderness Society, Bob Brown Foundation, Australian Conservation Foundation and Wilderness Australia have united, alongside 50 other environmental organisations, to launch the Forest Protection Principles.

The Forest Protection Principles call for:
🌳 An immediate end to native forest logging and clearing
🌳 Permanent protection of native forests nationwide
🌳 Strong national environment laws that safeguard forests and wildlife
🌳 An end to carbon offsets generated from public native forests
🌳 Climate action that protects forests rather than treating them as offsets for new fossil fuel emissions
Australia's forests hold vital habitat for unique and threatened wildlife and are far too precious to lose. Australians want to see native forest logging end, for good. Together we can make it happen 🌿
