My name is Theresa & with my husband Tony, and our Volunteers, we rescue injured & orphaned wildlife and domestic animals. The animals are cared for until they are ready to be released. We also answer calls from people with questions about wildlife, do talks at clubs & schools. This is done with no funding, only with donations from caring friends & the public, which we very much appreciate. As our

name gets around, we rescue more animals, it is getting harder to pay for everything. Petrol, formulas, hard feed, vet bills, medication, x-rays & pathology costs have all increased in the last few months. We have moved to a new, larger location and are still constructing suitable pens for all the animals that come here. Although official National Volunteer Week has almost ended, we HAVE NOT forgotten our current team of volunteers/helpers nor those who have given their time & energy in the past. Thank you all sooooooo much! Shout outs to our current crew: Mark, Wayne, Bianca and Tom & Ky, Jordan & Paula, Rhonda, Dale, Tara, Melissa, Lynda, Bec & Lorraine. We couldn’t go on without you all. As everyone is aware, there is never too much help in the life of a wildlife shelter/carer. Please put your hand up if you ever can. All volunteers will agree that helping others (humans or wildlife) not only strengthens the "patient" but also the carers heart and mind. Hats off to ALL the volunteers of OHWS and around the world

😘In Theresa's words, she is utterly "broken hearted" 🥺 She has asked me to speak on her behalf. Her mum sadly passed away at 3am yesterday morning 💔. She thanks everyone for your kind love, care, thoughts & wishes already. To lighten her load it would be nice if those who can, to send a card/note via snail mail to 4701 South Gippsland Hwy, Stradbroke, Vic, 3851, AUSTRALIA. Life's about to get a little quiet on here for the next few days. ❤️

I'm heading to Melbourne to be with my beautiful mum as she goes through major surgery. She's the strongest woman I know, and there's nowhere else I'd rather be than right by her side.

As many of you know, I look after both of my parents full-time, and Mum was diagnosed with cancer back in February this year. Facebook has been pretty quiet from me lately because life has been a whirlwind — running her to countless appointments, keeping the shelter going, and answering calls in between. I've been doing my best to keep all the plates spinning. 🙏

For the next few days, though, I won't be on Facebook or checking emails. Mum comes first, and I need to be fully present with her.

If you've got a moment, please send a prayer, a good thought, or just a little extra love her way. It all helps more than you know. 💛

See you all on the other side. xx
