Banksia Park International High School students give us a hand:
Two groups of Year 12 Outdoor Ed students visited Anstey Hill to learn a little bit about the park and to help us out with some invasive w**d control along Newman's Track and in the quarry area near gate 1. Best wishes to the students in their studies and thanks for helping out, every little bit helps.

Clean Up Australia Day 2026
Thank you to everyone who participated in Sunday's Clean Up Australia Day event. They tackled the park boundary along Lower North East Road and found plenty to keep them busy. Sad that some people still think it is okay to toss their rubbish on the side of the road

Wednesday Bushcare
The team of volunteers headed along the creek line up from the Newman's Ruins tackling some of our favourite w**ds, African Daisy, Rhamnus, Olive and Gorse. This was followed by a well earned cuppa and a chat back at the shed. John also showed off another one of his inventions.

Christmas Message from the President – Friends of Anstey Hill
As the year draws to a close, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our committee, members, volunteers, and followers of Friends of Anstey Hill.

This year has once again shown what a dedicated community can achieve. Through your time, care, and commitment, Anstey Hill has continued to be protected, celebrated, and enjoyed by so many. Whether you’ve contributed through hands-on work, advocacy, attending events, sharing knowledge, or simply supporting our efforts, every contribution has made a difference.

On behalf of the committee, thank you for your passion for this special place and for the spirit of cooperation that defines our group. We look forward to another year of working together to care for Anstey Hill and strengthen our community connections.

I wish you and your families a safe and happy Christmas, and all the best for a peaceful and rewarding New Year.

Sharing an experience by a concerned walker.
"On Sunday night around 7:30pm, while walking along Coulls Track in Anstey Hill, I came across a group of individuals behaving suspiciously. A short distance further on, I saw another person sitting with what appeared to be a high-powered bow and several arrows.

I didn't witness the weapon being used, and it may have been innocent target practise, but the situation felt unsafe and concerning - especially given the risk to other hikers and wildlife.

Sharing this to encourage everyone to stay alert.

Has been reported to police."

Request from Lost Pets of SA:
As some of you may be aware, there is a little white/beige dog named Einstein missing in Anstey Hill. There is a dog rescue group in the area trying to track and catch this dog. We are asking members of the public to please not chase him because we have had a few reports of this happening and he's starting to get scared. If we spook him, he will move from the area and we may lose him. While we appreciate people feeding him, searching and trying to help, we need all to please stop doing this and let the rescue team do what they need to. If you see anything you think may be associated with the search and rescue, please don't not touch it, it will be there for a reason.
You may see the team out there during your walks, feel free to say hi 😊
What you as the caring public can do is please report any sightings to Lost Pets of SA and they will advise the rescue team.
Thank you to all of the public for reporting sightings and trying to help little Einstein so far

Yesterday's Bushcare morning was w**ding around our plantings at the Quarry near Gate 1. We were lucky to have extra helpers from Friends of Para Wirra Conservation Park. Thanks for visiting and helping with this task. Refreshments and BBQ back at the Shed before a short tour of our park finished the morning off.

Thank you to Sue Wood for this video of a male red-headed mouse spider on a mission to find love! The female spider is dark brown and generally lives in her burrow, venturing out during or after rain. Sadly, the male dies soon after mating which is a natural part of its life cycle

Lovely to see the return of a pair of Tawny Frogmouths nesting . Thank you to George Scott for these photos
