Melbourne International Film Festival is currently seeking applications to be a part of their 2026 festival team. MIFF is looking for a Festival Access Coordinator and Casual Front of House staff.

We further encourage Deaf and Disabled people who are eager to work in the arts or have extensive access knowledge. It is also an opportunity for filmmakers to network with likeminded people and gain industry insight.

Applications can be made on the MIFF website. Both these applications close on 7 June.

A huge thank you to all that attended our event on Sunday! We are honoured to have worked with St Kilda Film Festival on this event. It was a strong screening of short films by Australian Deaf and Disabled filmmakers.
Our speakers included Leo Berkley (Dark Matter) and Sofya Gollan (So, Beautiful). Also, Irene Holub was our 2025 winner of the Lesley Hall Arts and Disability Scholarship. We were delighted that Irene could announce Nathan Borg as our 2026 winner!
All our speakers shared extensive knowledge, experience and industry perspective.

Keep your evening free tomorrow!

tilde Melbourne is screening a beautiful documentary about the trans-disabled community in Brazil. The film is called: Desire to Live (mutatis mutandis).
Five individuals lead different lives, yet share one thing in common. They are trans and disabled. Giorgia Narciso's (Director) vision captures Brazil’s trans-disabled community. This includes their desires, their art, and the rhythms that give meaning to their lives. It offers an expression of how filmmakers can connect with their communities.
This documentary shows the unique and personal ways in which trans and disabled people connect and relate. This documentary is open captioned. The introduction is Deaf-led by Salomon, from Break a Finger

TOFF takes pride in supporting our filmmakers who create authentic and inclusive films.

Film makers Adam Bigum (Eye of the Game) and Leo Berkley (Dark Matter) share what it meant to have their films in the 2025 festival.

ā€œLoved being a part of TOFF. The reason I got involved in making Eye of the Game was to help elevate Deaf talent and tell Deaf stories, and a festival like TOFF helps do exactly that.ā€ (Adam Bigum, Eye of the Game)

ā€œGiven the focus of the film, it was obviously a good event for it to be a part of. I know a couple of people who saw the film at TOFF who would not otherwise have seen it.ā€ (Leo Berkley, Dark Matter)

Our annual festival program is all about telling Deaf and Disabled stories. These stories empower the community with disability pride, create connection and combat feelings of isolation.

Find out more about TOFF on the Arts Access Victoria website.

Stay tuned for exciting things to come this year for TOFF!
