This World Su***de Prevention Day, we gather to remember those we have lost, acknowledge the pain carried by those left behind, and remind one another that we all have a role to play in supporting people through difficult times.

(Anzac Park, behind B’s Gym)

We’ll come together for a walk (optional), followed by hot soup, sandwiches, a song and a chat. You’re welcome to join us at the Hall even if you can’t do the walk.

🚨We’ve had a guest speaker change for tonight’s event!

Born and raised on a sheep and cropping farm in North West Tasmania, Kerri has spent most of her working life in industries that keep rural Australia moving. After serving six years in the Australian Regular Army, she transitioned into transport and has worked across a range of driving and training roles throughout her career.
Kerri gained her first truck licence in 1998 and went on to work as a professional heavy vehicle driver for many years. After returning to Tasmania in 2006, she worked for Chas Kelly before spending several years driving fuel tankers for Caltas (now Bonney Energy). She later became a Heavy Vehicle Driver Trainer with AJL, helping develop the next generation of drivers entering the industry.
A passionate advocate for transport and road safety, Kerri won the Australian Volvo Fuel Challenge in 2017 and represented Australia at the international competition in Sweden in 2018, where she placed equal second. In the same year, she was recognised as Tasmania's Professional Driver of the Year.
Today, Kerri continues to give back to the industry through mentoring emerging drivers, including participants in the Volvo Iron Women program, and by contributing to discussions around heavy vehicle rest areas and driver wellbeing. She has also featured in the NHVR's "We Need Space" road safety campaign alongside Supercars champion Garth Tander.
For the past three and a half years, Kerri has worked with Rural Alive & Well (RAW), supporting rural communities across Tasmania and helping break down the stigma around mental health and help-seeking. A strong believer in the power of connection, she is passionate about creating safer, healthier communities and ensuring support is accessible for those who need it.

“After more than a decade working as a diesel mechanic, Garrick was burnt out and craving a change of pace, something physical, outdoors, and hands-on. He found work on a lettuce farm, and unexpectedly, a new online persona was born.

Calling himself “Lord of the Lettuce,” Garrick began filming his day-to-day life in a raw, comedic, unfiltered style. His following grew quickly. With it came attention, validation, and, without him realising, a slow decline in his mental health. Alcohol became part of the persona, something that fueled the late-night posts and kept the character alive. As the audience grew, so did the pressure to keep performing.”
