We missed the official dates but gratitude doesn’t have a deadline. 💛

National Palliative Care Week reminded us why we do this work.
Sitting with families in their hardest moments.
Holding space when words aren’t enough.
Walking every step of the journey - however long or short that journey may be.

National Volunteer Week reminded us who makes it all possible. The people who give up their precious time.
Who fundraise in their workplaces. Who share our story when we can’t be everywhere at once.
Who show up, not because they have to, but because they care deeply.

To our families, our volunteers, our board, our nurses
and our staff, thank you for everything you do. 🌿

Palliative care is about more than medicine.
It’s about people, connection and kindness.
And we are so grateful for every single one of you.

Thinking of volunteering or learning more about what we do?
We’d love to hear from you.

💛 Say Their Name Day | 25 March 2026 💛

This Wednesday marks Say Their Name Day, a beautiful initiative by Red Nose Grief and Loss that brings families, friends, and communities together in remembrance, compassion, and connection.

Saying a baby or child’s name out loud is one of the most powerful acts of kindness we can offer. It acknowledges their life, their love, and the space they will always hold in our hearts.

At Paper Cranes Children’s Foundation, we understand how deeply this matters.

Today, we say their names…
Carmella, Callum, Joshua Daniel, Joy (Joey T), Maya, Mia, Madelyn M, Ryley, Maximillian, McKenzie, Madalyn C, Joey C, William, Jacob and the many other children we have known, supported, and had to say goodbye to far too soon.

Their legacy lives on through our work, supporting families in the community and building Wattle Cottage.
It lives on in the quiet, meaningful moments:
🌿 Checking on Joey’s wattles
📖 Reading treasured thank you and Christmas cards, again and again
🌹 Pruning the beautiful roses in the memorial alley
🤍 Caring for donated medical equipment that once supported little lives

These are more than memories, they are small but powerful reminders that love and compassion never leave us.

Their stories continue to inspire everything we are building, a place of care, compassion, and connection for families walking incredibly difficult journeys.

For bereaved parents, having your child remembered, spoken about, and honoured is not just important, it’s everything.

This March, Red Nose Australia is hosting Say Their Name Day remembrance services across the country. If you’re seeking a space to remember, grieve, and connect, we gently encourage you to attend a service near you or online.

💛 Say their name
💛 Honour their life
💛 Keep their memory alive

Many families don’t realise this paediatric palliative care directory exists in Australia.

If you are supporting a child with complex medical or life limiting conditions, this directory can help you find services available in your state.

Paper Cranes Children’s Foundation is listed under Queensland providers in the national directory.

Sometimes the hardest part is simply finding where support exists 💛

Save this post so you can find it again later, or share it with someone who might need it.

💛✨ International Women’s Day High Tea ✨💛

This International Women’s Day, we’d love you to join us for a beautiful High Tea celebrating the incredible women in our lives, while helping create something truly meaningful for families who need it most.

This event is especially close to our hearts as it marks the inaugural fundraising event for Paper Cranes Children’s Foundation, brought together by a passionate team of women from across the world who share one simple goal: to make life a little softer, kinder, and more supported for children and families facing incredibly tough journeys.

It promises to be a morning of connection, conversation, and plenty of laughter, along with a signature High Tea experience featuring freshly baked scones, delicate finger sandwiches, and an array of exquisite pastries and cakes, all paired with premium loose-leaf teas. All shared with a community that genuinely cares.
