Samford really laid on a stunning morning in honour of Queensland Day.

Thanks to Moreton Bay Regional Council’s maintenance team for the perfect run out to Two Trees today - that cut grass got the sort of admiration that only a regular paddock runner would appreciate.

And once again, our volunteers were generous representatives of the spirit of Samford. ♥️ Thank you all!

Round of applause for Chris Golusin who marked her 25th Volunteer milestone. 🏆Chris is known for her generous smile and encouragement that she brings to Samford Parklands parkrun whether on the course or volunteering. Thanks, Chris!

If there was an award for Most Maroon it would go to Julie Holden for her total commitment to the Queensland Day theme!

All the parkrun participants on the course were in great spirits and we hope to see you again soon.

Next Saturday, if you have been interested in volunteering, we are ready to welcome you. We’ll be teaching the Timekeeper role too so reach out if you’d like to learn that one.

parkrun Australia and the Queensland Government have teamed up to promote parkrun events as the best possible way to kick off Queensland Day tomorrow, Saturday 6 June.

There are 140 parkruns participating tomorrow across Queensland and it would be great to have Samford’s most glorious maroon support!

We know parkrunners love nothing more than dressing up, so as part of the celebrations we are encouraging parkrunners to wear maroon.

Think tutus, wigs, active wear, State of Origin kit or any other creative concoction that comes to mind!

Whether you’re walking, running, volunteering or cheering, it’s a chance to connect with our Samford community and be part of a vibrant, statewide celebration!

We’ll see you in the morning at 6:50am for our parkrun briefing on the grassy knoll!

This Saturday, come celebrate Queensland Day with us!

Pull on your maroon anything & together, we’ll take a spin around one of the best pockets of Queensland, Samford Valley.

Looks like some of our regulars got their Queenslander Spirit out last weekend as a warm up for the big day!

Can’t wait to hear their vocals belting out the “Queenslander” call this Saturday.

🥶WINTER PACE WEEK 🏁

145 parkrunners & 29 volunteers turned Winter Pace Week into a Sizzling Saturday of Celebrations!

30 parkrunners achieved a Personal Best, spurred on by our 11 pacers & the encouraging cheers of our course volunteers.

There’s a story for every single PB which is what makes each Quarterly Pace Week so highly anticipated.

Here’s just one. Jacob Cristani (under 10), came over for a chat after sliding through the finish funnel. Jacob proudly told us that his PB had tumbled today, despite having set it on courses that were quicker under foot. Today marked Jacob’s 90th parkrun. Not to be outdone, Jacob’s Mum, Jessie, also set a PB today! Well done!

Congratulations to Kylie-Lee Bradford & Patrick Hay on achieving your 25th Milestone, and Daniel Stanton on achieving your 50th Milestone 🎉🙌

We were excited to see Belinda Smith & Kylie Wilson in the red vests as they both notched up their 1st Volunteering credit. We hope to share more time in the red with you soon.

Big thanks to all our volunteers for bringing their energy & encouragement to Samford Parklands this morning - and thanks to Chris, Melanie (who modestly achieved her 350th parkrun today 🏆 ) & Sarah for choosing to visit us & volunteer at the same time.

Next week, if you’d like to join in with your best community spirit, we have a couple of marshal spots in the sunlight to snap up.

Finally, Samford Parklands parkrun is a warm & generous community. From Jeff & Debbie who turned up early to set up the course today ‘just because’, to the anonymous parkrunner who saw our regular volunteer Pam V in a local coffeeshop and wanted to shout her a coffee as a thank you for her volunteering, to Issy who scoops the kids under her encouraging wings on the course, to Zac who finished his parkrun at 22:35 but stayed until the end to help pack up the course, there are good people to meet and even better, the prospect of friends to make.
