BHP and the South Australian government have agreed to expand operations at the Olympic Dam mine, which will see a further 4000 workers hired, and deliver millions more in royalties.

BHP has paid a record $25.6m in royalties for Olympic Dam to the South Australian government, a figure set to grow as output is set to double under the new agreement.

The AWU welcomes the news. Every South Australian will benefit from this agreement, from more funds for our schools and hospitals, to thousands more jobs in our mining sector.
