(From a feature on Hamfests Australasia Group page:) Southern Peninsula Amateur Radio Club have announced their major door prizes for this year's Rosebud RadioFest. SPARC advise that these two excellent radios are "Just the Tip of the Iceberg!", with a long list of prizes including a "GRAZY MASTER" 5/8 vertical for 40/15 metres and one of their 2 metre band 1/4 wave verticals as well. (Donated by G & C Communications). There are Bunnings vouchers and even a day trip around the bay courtesy of Port Phillip Ferries. Many, many more prizes, too many to list here. It looks like this year's SPARC Rosebud RadioFest will be another record-breaking event. Sunday November 16th at the Eastbourne Primary School Auditorium, Allambi Ave., Rosebud VIC. enquiries to 0407 844 063.

Here's a quick look at how this year's Rosebud RadioFest will play out. First of all, a temporary forum venue change, just for this year: Due to school renovations kicking off early in November, our 3 forum presentations will not be staged in their usual classrooms, instead moving over to the Seawinds Community Hub, adjacent to the school's footy ground, as you drive down the parking road. That's just 120 metres as the drunken crow staggers. SPARC are indebted to the Community Hub's CEO and staff for helping us out with such an elegant solution at very short notice. (Legends!) Now, for the programme itself: Tickets on sale from 8 am, same goes for food and drinks. Doors open at 10 am sharp. Prizes drawn at 12:00 pm. First Forum: 10:30 am - presented by Ian Jackson VK3BUF - Antennapalooza - all about his fantastic annual antenna-building/socialising weekend. Second Forum: 11:15 am: Presented by Graeme Knight VK3GRK - POTA, SOTA and Silos on the Air. 3rd Forum: 12:30 pm - Presented by Neil Patton VK3ZVX - Making Amateur Radio Great Again (All forums will be presented in the Seawinds Community Hub, just across the parking area road, for this year only.) Fest closes about 1:30 pm, upon completion of the 3rd forum presentation. Our RadioFest Talk-In Station will operate from 8:00 am and close at 10:00 am, coinciding with the event opening. Talk-in frequency will be that of 2 metre repeater VK3RSP, located on Arthurs Seat, 146.675 with negative shift and a CTCSS tone of 88.5 Hz. Your Talk-In Radio Operator will be Russ - VK3ART (Thanks, Russ!) The RadioFest is a rubbish-free event, though we will provide some bins outside, near the catering area in front of the auditorium. SPARC will provide facemasks and hand sanitiser in the foyer, near the ticket sales/entry desk. Please avail yourself of these items, we strive to provide a safe environment for all. Cafe tables will be set up outside the entry doors, so you can sit and chat while you eat. Further enquiries, call me on 0407 844 063. Cheers Mark Bruechert VK3PDG SPARC RadioFest Organising Team.

Grant was one of the quiet achievers, working behind the scenes as SPARC's ultra-reliable Treasurer. Grant was also one of the key figures, instrumental in the ongoing success of SPARC's Rosebud RadioFest. He ensured bookings were correctly recorded and paid for, tables were allocated and contact maintained between SPARC and vendors. Plus a thousand other vital tasks he quietly completed for so many years. Grant was above all, a gentleman and friend to many at SPARC and in the wider community. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Vale Grant VK3GDC, now a Silent Key but forever in our memories.
