SET(P) for Success in 2025
Year 10 is an extremely important year as it marks the transition of students into Senior Secondary and is the foundation for future study options and career pathways. It is important that all students maintain the highest standard of academic achievement possible, in order to ensure that the breadth of senior pathways offered at Victoria Point State High School is accessible to them.

The major focus of Year 10 is preparing students to be able to successfully complete their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) in Years 11 and 12 and choose the tertiary studies or vocational pathway that supports their goals and aspirations. Students will choose from two different pathways when they begin foundational studies for senior subject offerings in Semester 2 of Year 10.

o Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) + Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR): the pathway for students interested in pursuing University studies after completing Year 12.
o Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE): the pathway for those students interested in pursuing TAFE, traineeships/apprenticeships, or direct entry into the workforce after completing Year 12.

Students intending to select the QCE + ATAR Pathway must be achieving a GPA 3.5 and a C level of Achievement in English. Year 10 students who select the QCE Pathway will be able to participate in either work experience, school-based traineeships or school-based apprenticeships, and will be given more information regarding these opportunities next year.

Throughout Term 1 and Term 2, students will engage in a Careers Short Course (Career Education Program) each Thursday to assist in clarifying their own understanding of pathways and intended subject selections, with successful completion of the course affording students 1QCE point.

Students identified as at-risk of not meeting their attendance, punctuality and engagement obligations as a member of Senior Secondary will be required to participate in an individual management process as advised by myself at different junctures throughout the term. Parents/carers will be included in these discussions and any decisions that need to be finalised as a result.

For further information regarding the QCE, please visit the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) website.

There are many opportunities for students to participate in sport at Victoria Point State High School. Information pertaining to each sport and sporting competitions is advertised regularly in Student Notices, on the Sports Noticeboard, as well as on the School website, https://vpshs.eq.edu.au/extra-curricular/activities/vikings-sport [vpshs.eq.edu.au] and page.
