All Queensland state school students will be required to keep mobile phones switched off and 'away for the day' during school hours and while attending school activities, such as representative school sport, excursions and camps. Wearable devices, such as smartwatches, can be worn to school; however, notifications must be switched off so that phone calls, messages and other notifications cannot be sent or received.

At Victoria Point State High School, the junior secondary years of schooling aim to engage students with a meaningful and authentic curriculum delivered in a supportive school environment. Students will be academically challenged and encouraged to understand and embrace the connections between subjects and the real world. A strong wellbeing program ensures a well-rounded education that supports students’ social and emotional needs.
The Year 7 Transition Program, which begins with the BIG DAY IN, is set to help students become familiar with their surroundings, learn more about how secondary school operates and introduce students to their new class mates.
The BIG DAY IN program, led by the Student Leadership Team aims to reduce students’ anxiety about moving from primary school to secondary school. Through interactive learning in key areas, students will cover a variety of topics. Year 7 students will have the opportunity to bond as a group, get to know each other and key teachers, help to break down stereotypes, gain key leadership skills and create positive friendship opportunities.
Parent/Carer/s will have the opportunity to meet and greet with a cup of coffee from 8.00am and participate in a Parent Seminar presented by Elevate Education at 8.30am.
Not only are there many opportunities for students to participate in academic, cultural and community aspects of school but also sport. Information pertaining to each sport and sporting competitions is advertised regularly in Student Notices, on the Sports Noticeboard, as well as on the School website, https://vpshs.eq.edu.au/extra-curricular/activities/vikings-sport [vpshs.eq.edu.au] and page.
